Haven’t been in Santa Fe since the Covid plandemic but I’m going back mid April and the Matador is first thing to do on my list.
That is just a place anyone will feel at home quickly if you get in a conversation with anyone there.
Like the place immensely.

The Matador is a classic dive bar and a Santa Fe staple that is a must-visit for those in the area. It's a small, cash-only establishment that can get crowded easily, but it's known for its stiff drinks with heavy pours. The bartenders and owners are amazing, and they'll make any drink you want. The bar has an amazing DJ on Tuesdays, and the overall vibe is fantastic. While the bathroom may have some mystery liquids on the floor, the fact that they have bathrooms at all is a win. The only downside is the price of drinks, with a group of four costing around $30 for a tequila drink, Malibu and Coke, whiskey Coke, and a beer. However, the bar is welcoming to all, including groups with various state and tribal IDs.
