We heard about the Love Apple while planning for our trip to Taos and decided to make sure to include it as a required stop. This place is a must stop if you visit Taos! The ambience of the location makes it perfect for a cozy meal, featuring amazing food and wine. The wait staff was very attentive and welcoming and made our visit top notch. We will definitely be back!
Absolutely horrible experience. We tried it twice and both times left highly disappointed.
The apple quesadilla tasted like petroleum, the trout was overcooked, the baked tamale was a disappointment but the tortilla soup was good. Despite reservations; we had to wait and the hostess was rude. She was abrupt and uninviting. Since 2019, the quality of the food has gone downhill. We won’t go back.

The experience of dining with someone special within a living historical landmark along with exceptional staff is seamlessly merged with a Michelin level menu for seekers of an absolutely enchanting evening within the cultural alchemy of Taos, New Mexico.

Had high expectations coming in as we visited Taos for the first time, and our foodie / industry friends had recommended.
-getting a reservation was worse than NYC, as their description of the process was dishonest. Called within 24 hours of opening for our slot 2 weeks before our visit. Never got a response back (despite them saying online they respond to all inquiries). Called 48hours before desired day for less than ideal time and got the day though not the time — didn’t need to bother calling before, apparently?
-cocktails good, but seemingly premade
-starters great, would just get those
-entrees forgettable except the meatball dish
-dessert for me was truly inedible as someone who makes pie myself. The Pignoli pie was served *piping* hot - something I would never do. Maybes this is a local thing, though I suspect it was reheated. It was so unappetizing and burned the delicate pine nuts - such an emblematic flavor of the area. Truly a disappointment for what sounded like a delicious dessert
-what really destroyed this for me, after the agonizing reservation process, was trying to ask my server for recommendations: she threw her hands up saying “everyone’s different, I don’t know what you like.” These are absolutely true statements, but when dropping $100+ pp on a meal, I expect guidance if I ask for it with a polite attitude. Especially for someone claiming decades in the industry
Overall, would go back if someone else booked given the painful reservation process and I ordered perfectly, but was disappointed as a girl who values hospitality in addition to just-plain-delicious food made with care.

I’m not sure I get all of the 5* reviews. First off, the front of the house is a disaster. The woman who takes reservations, “greets” and seats guests is, well, awful. Seriously. Send her packing. The wait staff is friendly so no complaints about them. But the food, well, I found it meh. Fine, but nothing special. Small portions and overly sauced or seasoned. And one more gripe - the a/c literally blew on me all throughout my dinner. I was freezing. Put in a diffuser. Bottom line - there are better options in Taos for the $$.

From Salad to dessert it was amazing. I saw some reviews on bland... Get outta here ... I would have come just for the fresh fruit goat cheese salad.
Bison cooked to perfection with golden oyster mushrooms topped with garlic mashed potatoes that beat my own wife's. Shh. Even the table decor was fresh Jasmine that filled the air. All around wonderful.

What a beautiful place. The food was excellent except the sauted leeks were a little chewy.. otherwise a remarkable evening.

No stranger to fine dining so really surprised as to what people are raving about. Where shall I begin. Maybe eat a light meal before you come. If u are hungry do not eat here. Very irritating when u make reservations and they make u wait 20 mins, then the wait between courses 20-30 mins. Ridiculous!!!
If you still want to dine here bring a fly swatter if u dine on patio they are relentless!
The food was good, not exceptional...my salad had so much vinegar in the dressing could barely eat it. Would never recommend this place...huge disappointment after looking forward to actually getting a reservation.

Outstanding dinner food for the two of us. Worth reading and following the rules for getting a reservation.
FOOD: 5.0. Every dish was outstanding and exceeded high expectations.
- TROUT PATÉ with FENNEL appetizer.
- SEA BASS. My food-fussy partner declared it the best Sea Bass she has ever had.
- DUCK BREAST. Yum!
- PINON dessert with créme. So good, including the crust. The créme was clearly housemade.
SERVICE: 5.0. Rigo did an excellent job, providing spot-on advice and exhibiting good timing.
AMBIANCE: 4.5. We sat inside. It was pleasant, with perfect-low-volume background music inside older building.
DRINKS: 4.5. We enjoyed our drinks. Standouts were the Pinot Noir (from S. America) and Muscatel.

The Love Apple was touted as the best restaurant in Taos but unfortunately that wasn’t my experience. The New York strip was the special on the night I went and it was unbelievably bland. No flavor at all. What an expensive disappointment. The margarita, on the other hand, was uniquely delicious. Just barely sweet but not overly tart. Our service was good so I’ll give it another chance the next time I’m in town.
