Good price, good room. Very quiet. Clean. TV worked, and so did the Wifi. Fridge and Microwave.

Mike is very nice. Mailed me my computer after I left it in the hotel room. Room was clean and comfortable.

I booked an overnight stay at the Tristar Inn because - like most people trying to book a room anywhere in New Mexico during the summer - I found it almost impossible to reserve something in a budget-friendly motel. The Tristar Inn is definitely budget friendly, so here's what I found: the room was extremely basic, but also very clean. The shower was huge and had ample hot water. The king-size bed was very comfortable, and the room's temperature was likewise comfortable, although the old-fashioned air-conditioner was loud - it didn't clang or bang or anything - but it was loud. Personally, I didn't mind the sound - it was more like background whitenoise - but if you're extremely sensitive to sound, know you're going to hear it. The television worked just fine, as did the microwave, minifridge, and the coffee maker. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay here. Finally, a quick comment regarding Tucamcari: looking through some of the reviews, I noticed people writing about the obvious poverty in town. Tucamcari is on the old Route 66, and if you're old enough to know what Route 66 is, then you also know it's been in economic decline for decades. With that said, there's a great deal of beauty and character in this little corner of New Mexico, and it's worth checking out.

I'm traveling Route 66 by bicycle and stopped in front of this hotel to check out food and lodging on my phone. Owner of this place came out and said me and my bike needed to go. Real great way to treat a potential customer.

I've been on the road for 42 days and haven't had anyone treat me poorly until this guy. All my gear is in great condition and I'm not even close to looking homeless.

Don't spend your money with someone that probably hates you.

Awesome little motel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I have never stayed in a motel as clean and friendly as the Tristar Inn Express!

Rooms: Clean, clean, clean and comfortable! This is not a 5 star luxury motel. The owners take pride and are continually updating, definitely shows!

Food and drinks: They only serve pizza at the cozy little bar. Bar is well stocked and all the locals know Mike, the bartender, front desk clerk, owner. He was very friendly.

Good people, but the rooms were not updated and looked dirty. I full aware of it being an older motel. You can hear the rodents in the walls late night (which I know it’s only so much they can do about that). I can tell that the room wasn’t touched in a long while. Just needs a little touching up.

An old Route 66 hotel with all the charms of days gone by . Nice bar on the property to unwind

Room was clean. Bed firm but not hard, very comfortable. No stupid memory foam that so many places use that cause you to overheat while sleeping. Cotton sheets, dark, quiet, cool room. Made for a good nights sleep. Hot water, lots of pressure. Price is right. Owner is personable, very friendly and eager to please. Fantastic stopping point on our trips to and from Missouri to Phoenix. I think we found our go-to place to sleep at the halfway point of our trip. We certainly don’t need anything fancy, just clean and comfortable. This place hits all the marks. It was a pleasure. Thank you!

Like other reviews have mentioned, yes, it's an older motel. It's also clean and comfortable. The owner is friendly and engaging. Not only did he check us in, he also tended the bar, cooked the pizza, and challenged us to a game of pool before bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Hotel is a little run down looking, but the manager was nice and our room was clean and everything was functional. The air conditioner is poorly placed so it doesn't cool the room very well, but everything else was good. Shower and toilet worked great, bed was very comfy, etc. Great price for the room. Hotel has a full bar and serves pizza, but we did not have time to partake.

We are traveling through and wanted the Route 66 experience. This place is clean, quiet, and comfortable. Mike the owner is a refreshing reminder of times past when customer service mattered. We will stop here anytime we are traveling West.

We found this hotel on one of the discount sites, but didn't book there because we were worried we'd miss the check-in cutoff time. But we cracked up at his responses to some of the comments, so we had to go see if we could meet him. He honored that rate and was so friendly, and I really appreciated him.Now to the room. The rooms are dated, yes. But not in a bad way. In a time capsule way. If they redid it, I think it would lose a lot of the charm. The room is super clean. The water pressure in the shower is phenomenal, and the hot water is nice and hot. The bed is hard, but... I can live with that for one night. There were only a handful of guests, which is too bad, but it meant it was pretty quiet. I really hate that people choose the chain hotels and not the smaller ones. I mean. I get it because I sometimes do, too, but don't skip on this one. It's a very basic, budget friendly place that's good for a stop over while on a road trip. Plus, they are pretty funny. ;)

While traveling through Tucumcari, I went to dinner at a good restaurant (Del's Restaurant) and I asked the waitress if there is anywhere to play pool in town. She said the bar at the Tristar Inn had a table. I drove over and sure enough there is an 8 foot Valley bar table with horrible fuzzy cloth and an extremely chipped up cueball for 75 cents per game. There were only a few customers in the place. As I'm getting ready to drop a few quarters into the table, the old guy behind the bar asks if he can help me. I responded that I was going to play a game of pool; to which he replied "I can't allow that!" WHAT?!!! I've been playing pool for a few decades, all over the country, I've NEVER had someone tell such a thing! He said unless I'm buying a drink, I can't play. I likely would have had a beer if he wouldn't have said anything, but the way he acted was so atrocious, I just decided to leave instead. Save yourself the poor treatment and skip this place!
