Awesome little motel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I have never stayed in a motel as clean and friendly as the Tristar Inn Express!
Rooms: Clean, clean, clean and comfortable! This is not a 5 star luxury motel. The owners take pride and are continually updating, definitely shows!
Food and drinks: They only serve pizza at the cozy little bar. Bar is well stocked and all the locals know Mike, the bartender, front desk clerk, owner. He was very friendly.

Good people, but the rooms were not updated and looked dirty. I full aware of it being an older motel. You can hear the rodents in the walls late night (which I know it’s only so much they can do about that). I can tell that the room wasn’t touched in a long while. Just needs a little touching up.

An old Route 66 hotel with all the charms of days gone by . Nice bar on the property to unwind

Room was clean. Bed firm but not hard, very comfortable. No stupid memory foam that so many places use that cause you to overheat while sleeping. Cotton sheets, dark, quiet, cool room. Made for a good nights sleep. Hot water, lots of pressure. Price is right. Owner is personable, very friendly and eager to please. Fantastic stopping point on our trips to and from Missouri to Phoenix. I think we found our go-to place to sleep at the halfway point of our trip. We certainly don’t need anything fancy, just clean and comfortable. This place hits all the marks. It was a pleasure. Thank you!

Like other reviews have mentioned, yes, it's an older motel. It's also clean and comfortable. The owner is friendly and engaging. Not only did he check us in, he also tended the bar, cooked the pizza, and challenged us to a game of pool before bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Hotel is a little run down looking, but the manager was nice and our room was clean and everything was functional. The air conditioner is poorly placed so it doesn't cool the room very well, but everything else was good. Shower and toilet worked great, bed was very comfy, etc. Great price for the room. Hotel has a full bar and serves pizza, but we did not have time to partake.

We are traveling through and wanted the Route 66 experience. This place is clean, quiet, and comfortable. Mike the owner is a refreshing reminder of times past when customer service mattered. We will stop here anytime we are traveling West.

We found this hotel on one of the discount sites, but didn't book there because we were worried we'd miss the check-in cutoff time. But we cracked up at his responses to some of the comments, so we had to go see if we could meet him. He honored that rate and was so friendly, and I really appreciated him.Now to the room. The rooms are dated, yes. But not in a bad way. In a time capsule way. If they redid it, I think it would lose a lot of the charm. The room is super clean. The water pressure in the shower is phenomenal, and the hot water is nice and hot. The bed is hard, but... I can live with that for one night. There were only a handful of guests, which is too bad, but it meant it was pretty quiet. I really hate that people choose the chain hotels and not the smaller ones. I mean. I get it because I sometimes do, too, but don't skip on this one. It's a very basic, budget friendly place that's good for a stop over while on a road trip. Plus, they are pretty funny. ;)

While traveling through Tucumcari, I went to dinner at a good restaurant (Del's Restaurant) and I asked the waitress if there is anywhere to play pool in town. She said the bar at the Tristar Inn had a table. I drove over and sure enough there is an 8 foot Valley bar table with horrible fuzzy cloth and an extremely chipped up cueball for 75 cents per game. There were only a few customers in the place. As I'm getting ready to drop a few quarters into the table, the old guy behind the bar asks if he can help me. I responded that I was going to play a game of pool; to which he replied "I can't allow that!" WHAT?!!! I've been playing pool for a few decades, all over the country, I've NEVER had someone tell such a thing! He said unless I'm buying a drink, I can't play. I likely would have had a beer if he wouldn't have said anything, but the way he acted was so atrocious, I just decided to leave instead. Save yourself the poor treatment and skip this place!

I guess if you’re looking for old this is the place, beds was so hard and uncomfortable and for the price I could have stayed somewhere that offers some sort of breakfast. I’ll never stay there again. ?? ??

Wow. If you want to experience a friendly place to lay your head or rest your dogs this is it. Make sure to stop in to Mike's bar and say hi. Super cool guy and a straight shooter. Prices are reasonable for the experience of staying on route 66! If you ask I'm sure Mike would let you bring food back to the bar and enjoy it here.Rooms: It's 2024 and these rooms are about 60 or so years old. Truly a route 66 experience at its bestNearby activities: There's places that sell car stuff, a grocery, and a few dispensaries nearby.Safety: It's so peaceful here. Maybe a train or two but it's definitely part of the experienceWalkability: Get your kicks on route 66!Food & drinks: Bar is"open as long as you want it to be" -MikeNoteworthy details: If you want to experience a genuine human connection and not the monotony of chain hotels/motels. You can't go wrong here.

The only thing to really say is enjoy. Not fancy, but Mike, the owner operator, is a joy. The bar is cozy and comfortable. Rooms have plenty of space and clean. Stay here instead of the big names you recognize. Mike is a great guy. I wish we could put him on every stop of our trip. It. 66, so many memories.

Clean functional rooms. Somewhat dated. It's like stepping back in time.
