Decent food but had to wait 1.5 hours from when we placed our order to when we were served our food.

Waiter kept telling us 2 more minutes, you’re up next, it’ll be right out, etc for 45+ minutes.

Please provide more transparency to your guests as you seat them or when they order, some travel from very far to visit Baddeck and may only have a single evening to visit the town.

Great spot to eat with a nice view! The chowder and Caesar salad were both delicious. Had booster seat available for my toddler son. Service was excellent and everyone was friendly. Overall very pleasant and would go back if in the area!

A couple weeks ago we stopped in Baddeck on our way back to Sydney and had a dinner at the freight shed, it had been a couple years since our last visit, and we thought we’d give it a try. It was a lovely meal and we left very impressed. Today we were again driving back to Sydney and because my mother and aunt were visiting from away, we thought we’d stop for a nice meal. I can’t express how disappointed we were with our experience today. We started with muscles for the table, I had left to wash my hands and saw our mussels sitting on the service counter for delivery, and yet it took another 5 minutes after getting back to our table for them to be brought by the waiter. I know this because you have an open kitchen and I like watching food prep and service as I once worked at a restaurant myself. Understandably, when they were brought to our table, they were cold - the waiter brought them back to the kitchen where I watched them reheat them, overcooking the ones that were actually edible. Once we started eating them, at least a dozen were either cracked or not fully open, and as frequent mussel cookers ourselves, we know this means they are not safe to eat. The waiter apologized and took them from us. My aunt’s lobster roll came with hardly enough lobster to justify the price, my son’s fish tacos couldn’t have had more than 4 oz of fish between all three tacos and my mother’s halibut tasted awful - all you could taste was the bland egg wash - it was more like eating an omelette, unfortunately she did not enjoy any part of her meal. I lost my appetite so I took my Caesar salad to go. Sadly we all agreed that the best part of the meal actually was the Caesar salad. I wouldn’t have reached out to you after all of this, but tonight, while my daughter was eating my salad, she pulled a 2 inch black hair out of her salad. I’m sure you can appreciate your reputation for being an outstanding restaurant, and perhaps today was an off day for the kitchen, I would understand if it was a particularly busy day, we were there after 1pm, and there were plenty of empty tables, so I don’t think that can be used an a reason for this subpar experience. Thank you for listening.

This place exceeded our expectations!! My wife, daughter and I had three different dishes and they were all amazing! We enjoyed our dinner out on the patio. Our server was friendly and informative - both with menu options and explanations about the area! The presentation and taste of the food beautiful and fresh!! I wanted to lick my plate so as not to leave any of the sauce behind - the server said there would be no judgement on her part! We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Baddeck area!

Lobster roll? More like Lettuce roll. You are just paying for the location here.

We wandered down here around 7:25 and put our name on the list. We chose to wait outside the restaurant and at 8:20 we still had not heard from anyone. As we waited outside, we noticed that many people sat without food and then some started to complain. At 8:25pm we chose to leave as we assumed it would take an hour for us to get food - we went somewhere else in town. Ultimately this is an issue for management - the staff were clearly doing their best and the kitchen was falling behind. Having the ability to make a reservation may help.

We had the pleasure of dining here on our last night in Cape Breton, it was the best meal we had throughout our trip. Our waiter Jeff was awesome, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and area. We sat outside overlooking the water, great view! And the best part as the sun set and it got a bit chilly, they provided blankets to outdoor guests to ensure their comfort ❤️

Just crap. Extremely overpriced, service is awful, and the food is mediocre. Attemped to reach out to the resturant via email about our dining experience, as I dont prefer to leave such a bad review but got no response. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. *If you have food intolerances or allergies definitely avoid!!! Don't ignore the other bad reviews as they are extremely accurate. One of the worse dining experiences in my life.

The Freight Shed serves up super fresh seafood with a side of stunning waterfront views — definitely a great spot to soak in Baddeck’s charm. The flavours were good and yes, it’s a bit pricey, but the cocktails were spot-on. Just be ready for a bit of a wait for your meal. Overall, worth it for the view and a relaxing evening.
