We went to the new Stretch Diner tonight for supper. Here's the scoop. The milkshakes are delicious, we had the chocolate and coffee ones, so good. We had the clubhouse with fries, excellent. The gravy on the side for the fries is a must. Chicken fingers and fries, my son cleaned the basket and he is a picky eater and loved it. I had the fish and chips....best fish and chips I have had in NS. Order extra tarter sauce, I could have drank it. It is homemade and is the perfect combined flavours. The fish batter is crispy, light and not greasy, not a bit of grease on my fingers. We brought home poutine for our other son and it was gone in minutes. The staff were friendly, attentive and made sure everyone was looked after. We will definitely be back, can't wait for the full menu to come out and for breakfast to start! The new owner is very nice too. Well done Todd!

Well, I haven't been there in awhile, establishment has obviously changed owners and has gone downhill.

It doesn't even have the atmosphere of a restaurant anymore, more of a take out counter with a few tables. Restaurant was cold inside, the 4 of us had to put our winter jackets back on inside.

Bathroom was filthy, toilet hasn't seen cleaner or a brush in awhile.

Now the for the food, has a limited menu, and out of the choices on it less than half of the menu items were available. Basically anything deep fried and burgers were the only offerings.

I tried the fish and chips, fish was overcooked and tasteless, I'm guessing taken out of a freezer and cooked. Fries were undercooked.

If you think I'm exaggerating, try this dump out for yourself, you'll see.

Never again

Excellent food. The owner has just taken over and they don’t have a full menu or full service yet. Time will tell. It was cold in the restaurant but, to be fair, it is off-season and they are just getting started. The food was surprisingly very good. The spring rolls were perfectly cooked and had a light spice to them. You don’t need dipping sauce with them, they are that good. You have a choice between deep fried or pan fried scallops and we chose pan fried. They were perfectly cooked; not over or under done.

I think as they get more experience and get better set up with a full menu, this will be a destination for good seafood and any other food they add to their menu.

I would recommend this place even with the hiccups. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Have eaten here several times. Food is very good. Only complaint is that they're not always open when they say they are.

The meal started with warm cups of water. By the time the ice was melted it was still a warm cup of water. One of the waters was brown and had a funky smell.
The food was okay, nothing to write home about.
We only saw our waiter at the start of the meal. No check-ins and I had to chase down the ice cream that was supposed to come with the kids meal.
All in all a poor experience.

Something happened to this restaurant since the last time we were there. The fish was not fresh, overcooked in oil that needs to be changed and the fries were overdone as well. Too bad. It used to have great food and delicious desserts.

Excellent fish and chips (wow, their batter is super crunchy). We also got the samosas to go and they are delish. Don't go for the decor, go for the food and the friendly service. So worth it.

It was just ok. They didn't have coffee at all. The poutine was loaded with old meat from days gone by. It was just ok. I wouldn't recommend this place, there are much better restaurants further into the downtown area. This is a different rating than I would've given it 5 years ago.

The fish and chips was all burnt and fish soggy. Seems like they need to change their dry oil.
