Best burger in town ... fresh locally raised beef cooked just right, huge 6 oz patty, tasty bun, and I love that they have the traditional fixings and condiments offered in a classic 50's, 60's roadside diner : mustard, green relish & grilled onions. The fries were great too ... and so are the local microbrewery ales they serve.

This restaurant can easily do better. It has a nice view of the sunset but the windows are dirty so it's difficult to really enjoy it and take a few photos. The service was well below what we have experienced so far in Canada. The menu is quite nice and the prices are quite reasonable. The chardonnay was very good and the dishes were OK value for money.

I have to admit that some of the reviews had me questioning whether I should go there or not.....so happy that the live music enticed us to try it. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the locals at the next table made us part of their group and food was great, in fact the fish chowder was the best yet on our trip. And the fish and chips and clubhouse were very good as well Was the last Tuesday night music of the season, square dancers and 2 steppers took to the floor. The music with 2 fiddlers and pianist played non stop for 3 hours. What a terrific Cape Breton evening. Merci!!

Crazy to think you have to pay an $8 cover at a place like this...but food was pretty good unfortunately we got The older blonde lady as a waitress and she was absolutely terrible! She honestly shouldn't have a job with all the mistakes she made. MAKE SURE YOU SIT IN THE YOUNG PHILAPINO LADYS SECTION!! she's honestly the only waitress that is on top of what's going on

Came for the music and early dinner. $8 cover charge, Canadian cash only. Meals very poor quality. Service was fast but didn't bring waters as requested and seemed to usher us along. Music was fun but not at all a place for a good meal.

We went to see Colin Grant perform and it was a great show! Can't speak about the food since we only got drinks. Well priced drinks. It seems like a lot of locals go here and some tourists too.

The beer was local, the fish was amazing ( Haddock fish beer battered) and the fries were perfect for poutine. Neighborhood feel, with friendly staff. I wish I could find something like this in North Carolina. We had our pup with us so we couldn't stay for the music. I'm sure it was amazing.

After two amazing dinners in PEI, was very disappointed with our lobster rolls last night. The lobster was rubbery and did not taste fresh.
This is your one chance of getting dinner past 830p. They serve basic burgers, etc, with vegan options. Fun music and the locals show up to dance.

GARBAGE. The WORST meal I have EVER had. Lobster roll came to the table looking like someone had sat on it. It was rubbery and over cooked (probably defrosted from a freezer where it had been sitting for about a year… which is a shame because this place is literally right on the water near the docks.) Could not eat it. My husband’s steak was a tough, cheap cut of meat and the “fresh” vegetables looked like they came out of a frozen food bag and were boiled to mush. The meal was expensive. They are completely taking advantage of tourists. Had a local vibe, which we were initially intrigued by but we were ignored upon entering (a few employees milling around by the door never even looked up at us) and I had to flag down a waitress to ask where to sit. Waitress was friendly enough but poked fun that I only ordered a small whiskey (she said she would have ordered the whole bottle…) Normally, I would have sent the meal back but we paid and left as the vibe here was not welcoming. They are clearly operating on a dime, serving garbage food and charging premium prices. Ignore the good reviews for The Doryman on TripAdvisor and elsewhere as I am guessing they are from locals or family trying to bolster business. Go to L’Abri down the road. Same prices, better food, nicer atmosphere. The Doryman pub is an old, outdated, dingy relic taking advantage of people’s hard earned dollars.

Stopped in for a late lunch. There were 7 other parties being served. No hostess, sit where you like. I believe there were two employees on site, one waitress who doubled as bartender and a cook. Service was slower than dirt. Not because the waitress was bad, she was really moving, but she was just outnumbered. Great waitress, poor management. Food was excellent. Best seafood chowder I’ve had. But the owner needs to back that poor woman up with another server.

We ordered the Doryman surf and terf and it was a pure disappointment unfortunately. Were over half way through our 2 week vacation and this was by far the worst meal we have had. They advertise 10 mussels we got 9. Serves was terrible, the server had no personality and appeared to hate her job. I dont think she smiled once. Rushing us to order then pay. I will never step foot in here again and let my friends know to eat and drink else where. Awful experience here. Save yourself the disappointment and try another place.
