“First, I'm really sad this place moved from walking distance from my home (Cole Harbour) to Portland, as it was my go to after surfing! Lol A++ I've tried almost everything on the many except for the full fish to share. Everything on the menu is my favourite lol; dumplings, burger, chicken burger, not sure if they still have the fish tacos or pakoras, but those were great too! I was sad to see the taco salad off the menu as it was so unique with the buttermilk ranch dressing & veggies of choice. No matter what they have on the menu, I always love! I think the only thing I didn't care for was pizza fries but I think it's a winner for most. The best fries (as they change up the theme) were shawarma fries so far! Keep it up guys! You're killing it!“
“I've been going every week with friends for early bird as seniors who that's mostly who is there before 830 am it was affordable now the prices went up 3.00 for early bird and less hashbrowns and no fruit regular breakfast after early bird went up 70 cents so only hurting seniors who can't afford to eat there otherwise my family bought me 200 dollars in gift cards as that what I asked for christmas when that gone sadly we won't be back as can't afford shame on you pur and simpleKid-friendliness: Very goodWheelchair accessibility: Good“
“I had a fantastic lunch here yesterday around 1 pm (03/20). My server was friendly and efficient, and the kitchen was incredibly quick. I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my lunch hour! The calamari was perfectly crispy with a delicious tomato-based sauce that reminded me of pesto. My seafood chowder was light, flavorful, and packed with an array of fresh seafood – it was absolutely the star of the meal.I'll definitely be back to explore their menu further – highly recommend this spot for a satisfying lunch!“
“When we first moved into the neighbourhood, I admit I wasn’t super excited by what seemed to be a sports bar. But it was open when we were hungry, so off we went. And we were pleasantly surprised! The decor inside does lean a little sporty and I’ve never been there in the middle of a popular sportsball game, but it’s otherwise just a normal restaurant. The food is really good and consistent, the prices are reasonable (especially during happy hour and Wednesday wings night) and the service is always spot on. They do a great burger, Caesar salad, wings, pan fried haddock, etc. It’s now one of our regular spots in the neighbourhood and the usual answer to, “Ugh I don’t feel like cooking tonight. Where should we go to eat?”“
“We love this restaurant. It's always been our “go to” since our first date when it was “LaPerla” 35 years ago. There was a bit of a noisy table behind us behind us this last evening and we like to go there because it's generally quiet. Things did settle down and the food( which is always great) and Jorge's excellent service more than made up for it!“
“This was our first time at the restaurant - we absolutely loved it! The food was packed with flavour, the atmosphere made you actually feel like you were on vacation and Leo was amazing!! Leo was very kind, welcoming and made the experience that much better! Can't wait to go back and try the new summer menu in May! Thank you for such a great experience!!“
“Hands down, the most accomodating and kind staff I have ever encountered. The main dining room was bustling and a little too loud for my partner and I. We were swept into the serene heated patio and pampered over the course of our meal. The service is impeccable and warm. The food is consistently good. A must visit.“
“We were actually expecting to be somewhere else and as fate would have it, we ended up here. Blown away! The small dishes were UNBELIEVABLLY tasty. I don't exaggerate. Definitely worth a visit. Fun spot. Be prepared to drop $150 for 2 (tip in) but you will not regret it.“
“Our server was exceptional. Attentive; provided answers to questions we had. The meal was DELICIOUS!! The restaurant is on our bus route - making it easy to get there and home without the need for a cab. Also, in the summer we can walk downtown if we want. We will definitely be back.“
“We made a quick stop here before dinner and we were not disappointed. The bartender was beyond knowledgeable and made one of the best whiskey sours we've ever had. Cute and cozy restaurant with an industrial touch. Can't wait to go back and try the food.“
“- this cute little breakfast/brunch and lunch venue on the corner of quinpool road and Oxford should be your go to in the AM’s!- small and intimate, yet able to accommodate groups of up to 10!- the menu is much larger than I anticipated and the prices are beyond fair, considering the quality of food! I enjoyed the fish cakes and eggs which was only $12.50. Their coffee from Java blend is delicious too! Head there let Cassidy and her team take care of you!Parking: There’s parking right beside the venue, street parking right In front or on Pepperel st one street behind quinpool.“
“First visit: Michelin 3-Stars plus Head Chef - Amy McDougall out did herself! Nikki our server was great host worth a 5-Star rating herself. Our first time to Le Rouge we couldn’t find anything to complain about. Thea Langille said hands down our favorite restaurant in Halifax. Great wine selection and cocktail list. We kept it simple with a white. Started with 6 raw PEI oysters and decided on the spicy (good bite) with horseradish and lemon over the garlic / lemon sauce. These were the fullest & freshest oysters we have ever had. Ordered slightly more than simple garden salad with our AAA Prime rib medium rare beef dip with mayonnaise sandwich. The dip was not salty and complimented the whole sandwich exquisitely. Light and delicious and bursting with freshness flavours. We splurged and shared a Vanilla Tuile Sea Salt caramel with coconut pudding garnished with a tasty biscuit and candy caramel drizzle. Not what I was expecting! Tip if you get it. spoon clear to the bottom, light and balanced. Best part Amy McDougall served it herself. Stylish and elegant decor, easy to talk and have a conversation even with the back ground music. An applause for the interior designer. The colors, lines and high end appeal coupled the excellence of quality brought to the table. We will be back Nikki and thank you Amy, Sincerely Peter & Thea ❤️ Second visit: Another great night with the beautiful and always delightful Thea Langille. This time I will make note that we went to see “Oppenheimer” after the meal. We had to Google to remember it was “Indiana Jones” the last time. Lol. We started with the White and Rose Sangria, each choosing one. Then the Asian Nachos (my favorite), Seafood Chowder that was amazingly meaty & creamy. I had the garden with the Lobster Club on a croissant. No dessert this time. Nikki our server was once again delightful.“
“My husband was in town for work and had dinner here prior to my arrival. He took me back for dinner the day I flew in. The owner greeted us at the door and had a table set up for us. The atmosphere is warm, the food is delicious and the service was amazing. Thank you for the hospitality.“
“Service was very good and we enjoyed our food - the highlights for us were the fried sardines and the roasted eggplant, both of which were divine. The restaurant is lovely and the waterfront location can't be beat! I will definitely visit again and recommend Darya to my friends.“
“Ordered the butternut squash gnocchi and it was delicious! The portions are smaller for the price/cost but for what youre getting is a thoughtful take which reminded me of an italian dish, asian fusion flavours kick. Which i have not had a lot of until now. The gnocchi with the almost curry-like creamy sweet savoury sauce with the butternut squash gnocci paired so well with the stracciatella cheese with Seasame seeds. The harmony of the two was well composed. I also heard great things about the baos, trout and beef tar tar (also having a nice asian touch to it). What was more impressive was the kitchen/cooks were cooking for everyone in a very small section in the front beside the bar, using a electric stove top to prepare the food they did. As a cook myself, i really find this impressive for the quality and quantity they are serving at. Of course, keep in mind the food from kitchen to table, but trust me it’s worth the wait!Would definitely come back, but next time would love a seat by the kitchen/bar area to observe cooking processes.Compliments to the chefs ?“
“I was crunched for time and needed food before an appointment. Stopped in for something quick and the staff hooked me up with a fantastic breakfast sandwich and coffee for the road in no time! While it was a quick stop-in, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Much appreciation, and I'm looking forward to going back for the full dine-in experience!“
“The best ever!!! The food and drinks were all delicious. Watson and Kotone are so lovely and helpful - they truly made the experience so much fun. Loved it so much we went two days in a row! A great time, will definitely be going back :) 100/10“
“Dining at the Hop Scotch Dinner Club, I was blown away by one dish in particular. The scallops were just divine, seared to a perfect crisp on the outside while remaining incredibly tender and juicy on the inside. It's rare to find that balance executed so flawlessly. Then there was the 'nduja sauce and red lentils – oh, what a pairing! The sauce added just the right kick, and the lentils brought a comforting earthiness that grounded the dish. And those fermented carrots? Their sharpness and the skill in their preparation were nothing short of impressive. The dish was also a treat for the eyes, adorned with calendula petals and a drizzle of their oil, adding a splash of color and a hint of elegance. It was an unforgettable experience, a beautiful blend of flavors, textures, and visual appeal, all thanks to the creativity and skill of the chefs at Hop Scotch Dinner Club.“
“First time visit. We had the Dinner breakfast offering. The cost was approximately $19.50. I have to say WOW. The plate consisted of two pieces of thick bacon, two eggs, two sausage of very good quality..not greasy or mealy. Home Fries, salad along with an aoli to dip. A large piece of toasted foccasi. I just loved the presentation and the flavor. Service was very good... attentive server and very relaxing atmosphere. Coffee was above par. Ceaser for an opener ( very tasty) I also had a speciality coffee for desert. An offering that I hadn't seen in other establishment. And no I don't know the owners or staff! Highly recommend to try one of the breakfasts/ brunch and then determine yourself if this is one of your go to places. Yummy..getting hungry again. Cheers.“
“We didn't have any food, just cocktails downstairs at the hidden little gem, The Noble. It reminded me of an old cigar bar from the movies (without the cigars). A password is needed to enter the place, which makes it very secretive and elitist! Very unique experience for me and my party. The cocktails are absolutely delicious! Thank you for a wonderful experience!! :)“
“went for dinner with my fiance on Sunday June 11th. I believe our servers name was Jess. taller, blonde. she was fantastic. checked in at appropriate intervals and very friendly. the thing that really impressed us was how all the servers on the patio cleared our dishes as they walked by and asked how everything was and if we needed anything. it felt like ever server was our personal server. what a team. I have never seen that in my life. food was great. highly recommend.“
“We started with the half dozen oysters then shared the Paella Valenciana Mista intended to be shared among 2-3 people. The Paella had a generous amount of fish, chorizo, shrimp and mussels to rice ratio and the flavours were very good. The rice was a bit too dry, making the overall dish a bit dry. The atmosphere was ok, it was a bit cold and drafty in the restaurant and the music playlist was somewhat haphazard. The service was great.“
“Excellent service, and the food and drinks were delicious! Overall great vibe! And awesome location! The restaurant has tables that can lower in height to accommodate someone in a wheelchair and is overall very accessible:) The staff were super friendly and added to our dining experience! Would highly recommend!“
“Both times I've been to this location, the waitstaff was kind and prompt, and the desserts are decadent and sweet. The second time was with a larger group (6) and they easily and comfortably accommodated our party. The cocktails and inventive and well made, worth stopping in for small bites and yummy desserts.“
“It has been years since we visited Bitter End, so we went in for drinks while waiting to go to the theatre. Service was good, but our server must have been new, because she did not know much about the menu and had to go check on a number of items. I recall this place as being an elegant place to eat, but it is looking a bit run down now. However, we enjoyed our visit and the location is excellent.“
“Dear Friend, your service was excellent despite being packed, your small booth in the corner was cozy, your small plates made us say "mmmm!" with every bite. Your boozy cocktails were delicious and inexpensive.Best tartare we've had anywhere, the carrots were amazing (yes, order the carrots with your raw beef), oysters were so fresh with a fantastic house made hot sauce.1st time there, 1st class place. Book a res if you want a seat“
