“Well worth a trip across the bridge! I rarely go to Dartmouth, but had an appointment this aft. Walking back to my car, I noticed this cute spot, Portland Street Creperie and decided to check it out. So glad I did! I’ll definitely be back. The owner and his staff member of many years greeted me with a warm welcome and good suggestions. It was a bonus to discover Neil shares a love of Kraftwerk! I’m so jealous that he will be seeing them for the third time 🤦‍♀️. Oh, and the crepes - fabulous! Definitely recommended!“

Thanks to the entire Canteen family - and I say FAMILY purposefully as you feel the family atmosphere as soon as you arrive - for hosting our team for dinner last week. We booked out the whole restaurant and they did just what we hoped for: Maritime hospitality, wonderful, genuine service and knock-your-socks off food. The team from across Canada went bananas over the Crobster sandwich. The special welcome from the owners was a lovely touch. The guests raved all the way back across the harbour on the ferry about the wonderful meal from start to finish. It’s a lovely space that is not pretentious and puts an emphasis on fantastic food and exemplary service, with a genuine smile. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“Every now and then you fined a place that blows your mind. This place is special. If you find yourself in Dartmouth you must stop here. You get a feel right away when you walk in that your home not only with food but beer. Then you are greeted by staff that are super nice and kind. They stop to chat they make sure everything is to your liking. So many beers to choose from. 20 micro brews on the list. Then the food came. Oh My the food. So freakin delicious ?. And at a fair price. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you are visiting Halifax just take the ferry over it's a short walk from the dock. “Every time I go, I never leave disappointed. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable, the food is amazing & the venue is always beautiful this time of year! Definitely recommend making a reservation in advance to shorten your wait time as it's a very popular place especially on Friday & Saturday nights although if you don't, trust me, it's worth the wait Every.Single.Time!!!“

“Lovely Mediterranean restaurant with exceptionally beautiful tablecloths and a nice ambiance. We ordered the beet salad (beets, walnuts, goat cheese, maple vinaigrette) and the mixed meze plate which included hummus, dolma, mutabbel, falafel, and eggplant saute. For dessert we had the baklava and liked it so much we also got an order to go. The baklava at the table was served with a delicious raspberry sauce.

Everything was very tasty and plated in an attractive way. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The view from the restaurant is the only detraction since it looks out onto a parking lot (nice trees, otherwise unexceptional) but they do their best to make the inside beautiful and cozy. We will definitely go back.

“I didn't get any photos; I visited on Sunday, June 1st, with my four young kids and sister-in-law. I just wanted to say that the service was amazing; the staff were very accommodating, and the food was fresh. My daughter, who has a sesame allergy, was able to eat sushi; they cleaned the oil for her and cooked her food first. My daughter, who is 1, was treated like royalty and given a small spoon and some crushed ice with a bowl of fruit. This visit was so enjoyable. The waiter was hands-down one of the best I have ever come across while dining with my kids. She was patient, kind, and very engaging. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate this visit 100.“

A great selection of in-house baked good (the carrot cake is my favourite); lot's of sandwiches (Montreal smoked meat hits the spot every time); breakfast fare (their in-house breakfast sandwich is yummy!); and friendly, attentive staff. They feature an espresso roast that is one of my favourites on either side of the harbour. The space is great to hang out in—at times bustling, at others, peacefully quiet.“

“Was beautiful on the patio even if we had to run under the awning as it started raining enough that our buns would get soggy.

The lentil burger was to die for and the sweet potato chowder was delicious as well. However it did get cold fast so I didn’t finish it, was a lot of food regardless. Well worth it!

Lamb burger & roasties were the bomb as well. Didn’t get a photo though.
Our sever was amazing as well, although his name escapes me atm.

The food is pretty good and fairly priced for what it is. Honesly the review would be a 3/5 if it wasn't for the customer service.“

“after living in halifax for over 4 years i must say the most disappointing customer service and most hurtful incident of RACIAL profiling I ever had to deal with has been at the Burnside freshii..... after walking in between meetings while talking to my business partner on the phone, I was refused service by the MANAGER . who told me he will not serve me.... when asked why he refused to serve me he told me I was disrespecting him by coming to his cashier register on my phone...... of course this manager them walked around from his counter walked right into my face to intimidate me..... when i proceeded to try to make my order after been hungry running back and forth to meetings all day he proceeded to call the police... thanks to freshii Burnside I am once again reminded that my appearance is either threatening or offensive.... either way it was made clear that my kind is not welcome.....!!!“

“We were there two nights in a row. Two different servers. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share amongst us. The 1st pm the food seemed better. The 2nd pm the server didn't ask if we would like meat or chicken to our nachos. But we all agreed that they were the best nachos (both pm) even the ones without chicken that any of us have had in HRM.“

“My wife and I went out for wings and beer. The wings were great and beer were ice cold and crisp. Those were great but the best part was the service. The girl serving us was very busy (was always on the move) but the food was out very quickly and she always stopped and made sure we had what we needed. Thanks MaddyF (name from the receipt)“

The first time we went, there was a team of three guys working, it was very busy. They multi tasked great together-had a good vibe- were really friendly!
