My wife and I attended a private function there last week.
The menu was a fixed price. I had the spinach salad and chicken pasta. She had tomato bisque and the pasta. We both had tiramisu for dessert.
The soup and salad were tasty. The pasta was very mediocre. Good but nothing special. The tiramisu was more in the nature of a strawberry trifle, but good.
The portions sizes were far too small for what we were asked to pay. We both left hungry. The bill, including the gratuity of 20% which was automatically added, was over $320. While that included wine, this is about twice what I would expect to pay in many other good restaurants where I have had a similar meal. For that amount I’d better be wowed. The experience wasn’t close.

5 star for service is a insult to how amazing the service was 100/5 to date the best service we have ever had at a restaurant. Hates off to the staff!
Food was excellent, recommend the calamari. They have a very elaborate wine and cocktail menu, the cocktails were mind blowing. The menu is limited in size but in a good way.
The restaurant is multi level so even though it was full it still felt intimate.
10/10 will dine again.

Another wonderful evening for two at Da Maurizio. We ordered Caesar salad and Shrimp for our two appetizers and Spaghetti bolognese with gnocchi and pasta with sausage for mains. A lime dessert and gelato for dessert. All were excellent. Our server Kelly made was exceptional and made a great wine selection. Both Kelly and Carl know the menu inside out and are unbelievably kind and caring. We will be back many times.
Went here for my birthday and from the walk in the door felt like family. A 30 year old gem that delivers and provides great value.

Food quality had deteriorated since my last time to Da Maurizio. The soup had only one piece of shrimp and one piece of scallop. The scallop tasted fishy. The calamari tasted good but it was a bit cold a soggy. The service was good, but I was disappointed as it was my husband's birthday and I did mention that in the reservation , however, it was not acknowledged at all during our visit. For the special occasion, unfortunately Da Maurizio did not make it special, it was just ok
We chose to visit da Maurizio for my birthday. Despite living in the city on and off for the last 30 years we had heard so many great things but never visited. We are so happy we did. When we set foot in the place Tanya and her team made us feel welcomed and like family. The food and drinks were delicious and delivered incredible value. We will certainly be back and ensure we do not wait another 30 years. I am always interested in what happens when you fill out the reason you are coming in the box. Many places do not go the extra inch to even recognize it. Tanya and her team make sure you enjoy the celebration.
My husband and I have been coming here fir many years for special occasions because it!s a special dinning experience for us. We love the ambiance, Tanya the hostess/manager is so good at making you feel welcome. The food never disappoints.
Watch prices. Error on wine price on menu yet waitress refused to honour the price or somehow compensate. If you order based on menu price, you will be charged their possible higher price. When bill came, was charged for 2 bottles of wine when only one was ordered. Again no attempt to compensate.
We are visiting Halifax on a cruise and tried Da Maurizio on the recommendation of an acquaintance from Halifax who says it's her favorite restaurant. We can see why that's true. It was an easy walk from our cruise ship. We were seated in a quiet corner. Service throughout the meal was attentive, and there were no problems with some special food requests. All five of us thought our dinners were excellent. Once we converted the check to dollars, we thought the prices were quite reasonable.

We were sat very close to a couple who appeared to be arguing. The male was rude to his female partner and did not seem to care who heard what he had to say. It was very uncomfortable. The food was not as we have come to expect at this restaurant. my steak seemed to have been left under a warmer too long and my partner ordered a linguine dish which when delivered appeared to be spaghetti.
Our waiter, a 20 year veteran, was superb! The dinner was fabulous, and I only wish we had this great restaurant in our home state of Delaware. If you want Italian in an upscale setting, do not leave Halifax with coming here!
We read several reviews and most were very good and some were bad. I read one that said forget the bad ones. We did and were extremely happy not only with the food but the service as well. My wife and I split the lamb chops and chicken parmigiana. Both were excellent!!! If we lived here it would be one of our go to restaurants!!!
