The booking of 6 people late in the evening was meant to provide a an authentic experience for visitors to Halifax. Instead they were met with food that was extremely salty, potatoes chips especially were particularly salt as part of starter and as part of mains served separately. It was not fit for consumption. Hard substances in mussels that almost damaged the teeth. Bill came with a mandatory preassigned gratuity that we were told had been included in the bill at God know what percentage. Only discovered when we asked to include gratuity. No pre conversation with us that for a party of 6 the gratuity will be mandatorily included and no conversation about the percentage either. Bill paid nonetheless. I have no reason be it food or service or character to return to this establishment. Good luck to them
The food at drift is incredible. The brown bread tastes just like my great grandmother's. My party was clearly not the usual clientele at drift but Francisco was SO welcoming and kind. I had the fondue burger (omg) and we split an order of the lobster hush puppies. I can't recommend it here enough.
The service was excellent. The place itself is great ( beautiful furniture and nice choice of music ). The portions of food are too small : the mussels should be an appetizer and not a main. Portion of fries was too small as well.
The whole experience is always a WOW! From warm greetings on arrival from Sonya to exceptional service from Francisco, we always leave feeling spoiled and satiated! The food quality is second to none with a special thank you to Chef for making our favourite! Keep it up Ian! This place is magic!
Dined with my 82 year old mother with Celiac, dairy and seafood allergies. The service and detail to meticulous preparation to ensure a contaminant free meal was beyond. A delicious, well presented plate was impressive and truly enjoyable for her. A wonderful evening.
Went here with little expectations, and was surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Food was delicious and in great portions, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Would recommend for any night out on a special occasion.
Salmon was excellent. I have a lot of food resrtiions and they were very accommodating. Service was amazing
Lovely decor, and the food is very good. Although the staff is fairly attentive, I have had a couple of experiences where I've had to get up from my table to search for help and ask for an item that was forgotten and not brought to the table (milk for tea, etc.)
Food was pretty good for the most part. We particularly enjoyed the brown bread and pork belly and scallops. The hodge-podge was decent, though I thought the fish cake was underwhelming and the included brown bread didn’t match too well with the dill cream sauce. Note that the hodge podge is also quite rich and heavy due to the cream based sauce.
Service was pretty good except it took much longer than expected to get the bill. Once the patio space filled up, I think the lone server could’ve used some back up (maybe another team member to help).
The space is beautiful regardless if you sit inside or outside, no complaints there.

Very disappointed, salad greens and vegetables were wilted, Caesar salad was awful.
However, nice staff and nice surroundings.

Drift was easily one of the most memorable dinner spots during our time in Halifax and for good reason!
The restaurant itself is gorgeous, with a sleek modern/chic interior and a beautiful outdoor patio. We were lucky to be helped by the hostess (I forgot to get a name!), who was so kind and helpful in getting us the perfect outdoor seating.
I kicked things off with the Purple Mist mocktail. The lavender x lemon flavour came through nicely and was refreshing. We were also kindly given a complimentary appetizer to start. I can’t remember exactly what it was, but it was a unique burst of flavours and textures. A bit sweet and salty, a touch of acidity (maybe umami?), and a hint of earthiness. A really fun way to start!
The Maritime Oysters and Atlantic Salmon Tartare appetizers were beautifully plated, tasty, and fresh. For my main, I had the Nova Scotian Hodge Podge, and I absolutely loved it. Rich, comforting, and well seasoned—I nearly licked the bowl clean! The Pecan Butter Tart Sundae was the cherry on top. It was cold, nutty, buttery, fruity, and just the perfect sweet ending.
Our server, Piper, was also seriously amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and professional, making the whole dining experience feel special from start to finish.
If you’re looking for a refined dining spot in Halifax with great east coast food and top-tier service, Drift is a must-visit.

Treated a good friend to a Birthday Brunch at Drift restaurant. The location was very scenic on the waterfront, but service was backed up.
The food was worth the wait! I enjoyed my selection - Smoked Salmon and Cod Crab cakes. My Chai Latte was disappointing, but I was able to switch out for an Americano.
