Let me start this by saying this happened well before covid and I honestly was just too ashamed to say anything. I don't know if things have changed with new management but a warning to the deaf community be aware there is a preformer who will take away your device if you are trying to read lips with it. I knew there was a rule about cellphones but since I knew a few preformers and the staff at the time, they were happy to introduced me to everyone so I could explain my situation and work something out- everyone but one was okay with this. Mid way through her show she took my phone, waited to the end to call me up and berate me on stage- I attempted to sign several times through this interaction but she ignored me. She went to post about this on her social media and only after I commented my side(screen grabbed everything) she deleted the post- I believed menz was a safe accepting space but I see thats only for able body members of the community. Hopefully the change of staff will prevent this in the future and maybe I'll be attend shows once restrictions and risk lower but fellow community member be aware.

On point. New management is fantastic. Looking forward to seeing how they grow

Unique, wild, yet friendly. Some sweet twists on the tables and a good night.

I was hesitant to post this because the staff are great and amazing at making guest feel safe(I rarely go anywhere alone), drinks are overpriced at best so just know what to look for, and they don't give receipts even when asked. Gotta say it's a certain performer who ruined my experience and make me want to avoid performances nights all together I understand cellphones/photography are a no go but I have hearing problems and had a preformer take my phone mid performance (I have an app to zoom in on faces to make lip reading easier) and they ram into me on stage afterwards - literally screaming inches from my face on how I was aweful and should never come back for having my phone out. Meanwhile, I can barely understand them and can't communicate either because they don't understand I'm using ASL and she has my device that I need to use to successfully communicate to them. They could of done anything else and I would have been happy to explain why I was doing what I did(since I know most of the staff they know about my hearing loss but it's not their job to alert preformer) but this performer choose to humiliate me, rather then be tactful and talk to me after the show - I rarely go on performance nights anymore and make a habit of going elsewhere if it is(especially if I know it's the same performer). I rarely go out because of my disability and sure Menz is accepting but those of only ABLE body LGBTQ community members.

Enjoy the bar, but couldn't get the queens off the stage. Went in to dance and we were told there was music, after paying $10 each the dance floor was full of chairs and a drag show. That's cool an all but person on the door should have been more transparent. All in all though a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Lots going on in the different rooms so it can appeal to a variety of genres.

Fun all day long. Be open minded and all is well

I absolutely love Menz! The building is a mini complex where you get a variety of shows and music playing all at once. A true queer bar, the DJ's spin their own mixes and know how to keep it fresh for everyone all night long. You could liken Menz to the underground club scene, and it is very diverse. I always feel safe there and welcomed.

The only bar in Halifax that I feel genuinely safe to visit regularly. Also IMO the only really queer bar in Halifax anymore.

Don't bother. Tonight someone that was very unstable "admitably" was being served and they should not have been. Also, there were only 3 of us including the bartender.
