Had placed an order for tourtiere pies and even called in before pick, to confirm the closing time, and when I arrived they didn’t have my order. Julienne is who I spoke to and he was very uncaring, no apology, that I drove 35 minutes to pick them up for dinner that evening. Very disappointed and will not be going there again. Not recommended. Poor customer service. Zero stars.
The selection of cheese and charcuterie is of course outstanding. But I want to talk about lunch. Every sandwich or soup I have had here has been incredibly good, generous and relatively inexpensive. Today I had a ham sandwich that was smothered in broiled raclette. I haven't had a better lunch of any kind in this town.
Absolutely outstanding French onion soup, interestingly made with duck broth, the flavours were amazing. I'll be back!
The ambiance here is absolutely enchanting. Dim, warm lighting paired with soft jazz playing in the background set the tone for a relaxing evening. The rustic wood décor and exposed brick walls gave it such a cozy, upscale feel without being pretentious. It’s the kind of place where you can have a deep conversation and lose track of time. I’ll definitely be coming back for the vibe alone.
Absolutely delicious! We came in with high expectations and they were exceeded. Every bite had so much flavor, and the textures were spot on — crisp where they needed to be, tender where it counted. I especially loved how balanced everything was, with bold flavors that never felt overpowering. The vibe of the place was warm and welcoming too. Highly recommend this spot if you love great food.

This place makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop! One of my favourite places in the city. The customer service is always excellent and I can always find something delicious and new to try.
Amazing lunch! Such a hidden gem
A true hidden gem in Halifax. There is a cool food counter in the back of the shop that opens only Thursday to Sat serving the most delicious sandwiches. I had the beef brisket and it was made with such care and precision. It was also a bonus to watch it being prepared in front of you like an omikase sir sandwiches. Highly recommended especially for travellers that are tired of the same items in the many tourist traps all over.
Great selection but super unhappy about the service. The girl was extremely rude and dismissive of our questions. Not a good look for the business.

Always a great selection to choose from. Really appreciate how most of the meats are made in house with local products. It’s really fun to have the lady just pick cheeses for us to try! Never disappoints .
Enjoyed an amazing sandwich in house and got some charcuterie for later. It was all phenomenal! Definitely recommended
We drive in from Fall River to visit Ratinaud for its unique and exceptional meats and cheeses, which are truly authentic European. The duck prosciutto is a favorite, and we love that we can also stop in for a delicious lunch. You can see the owner working hard behind the glass, crafting incredible charcuterie and preparing fresh, flavorful meals. Highly recommend this shop—it's a step above all others in Halifax!
This is a super cool business. Great place for lunch. Food is great. Tonnes of unique cheese and meats. The owner served our lunch today and takes great pride in his food and service.
I'm from Montreal but now living in NS. My friends from Philadelphia were over for a week and we decided to go to Ratinaud for some cheese.
The girl who served us was not friendly at all. When asked to taste the St Agur cheese, she cut a big slice, weighed it, priced it and then gave a small piece to my friend. Basically, she sold a taste sample to my friend.
We were outraged; at any other cheese store, if you ask for a sample, they gladly give you a small sample. We ended up spending only $70 then we went to the Italian Market store and spend over $100 on cheeses
