Great selection but super unhappy about the service. The girl was extremely rude and dismissive of our questions. Not a good look for the business.
Always a great selection to choose from. Really appreciate how most of the meats are made in house with local products. It’s really fun to have the lady just pick cheeses for us to try! Never disappoints .
Enjoyed an amazing sandwich in house and got some charcuterie for later. It was all phenomenal! Definitely recommended
We drive in from Fall River to visit Ratinaud for its unique and exceptional meats and cheeses, which are truly authentic European. The duck prosciutto is a favorite, and we love that we can also stop in for a delicious lunch. You can see the owner working hard behind the glass, crafting incredible charcuterie and preparing fresh, flavorful meals. Highly recommend this shop—it's a step above all others in Halifax!
This is a super cool business. Great place for lunch. Food is great. Tonnes of unique cheese and meats. The owner served our lunch today and takes great pride in his food and service.
I'm from Montreal but now living in NS. My friends from Philadelphia were over for a week and we decided to go to Ratinaud for some cheese.
The girl who served us was not friendly at all. When asked to taste the St Agur cheese, she cut a big slice, weighed it, priced it and then gave a small piece to my friend. Basically, she sold a taste sample to my friend.
We were outraged; at any other cheese store, if you ask for a sample, they gladly give you a small sample. We ended up spending only $70 then we went to the Italian Market store and spend over $100 on cheeses
Not to be dramatic, but their rotisserie chicken and potatoes au gratin that I bought and took home to eat, is one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I will no longer be able to eat any other rotisserie chicken, as nowhere else compares. The cheese selection is fantastic (I’m a sucker for Comte cheese and theirs did not disappoint). Will 100% be going back.
We bought all our charcuterie and cheese for our wedding from Ratinaud and everything was incredibly delicious! Great customer service, and amazing selection.
Very nice selection of cheese.
Worst cured chorizo sausage ever. So salty that we had to throw it out and the manager didn’t care.

We went to try some cheeses and sausages. After inspection, by far the best place where you can buy cured sausages and a fantastic selection of cheeses, there is a kitchen, but I have not yet had the opportunity to try what they cook there. We bought fresh sausages for grilling, they are fantastic, excellent composition and taste. Probably one of the few stores that sells blood sausage, for which special thanks! The service was very pleasant, everything was explained and explained, and everything was done at the best level. Excellent dried duck fillet, in a word, you need to come here many more times to try everything
Awesome products but every time I go there its a bummer dealing with the lady at the counter- always feels like she would prefer not to have to deal with humans- what could be such a fun discovery turns into me apologizing for disturbing her as I spend $200 ??♂️?
Best cheese shop in town !Amazing service too
The saucisson sec here is incredible. If you know the smell and taste of a real saucisson sec from France, you'll be very happy. I've been living in Canada for over 20 years and I've never had one come close to the real thing until now.The cheese selection is incredible, reasonably priced, and the house made paté is unreal. You can't go wrong. You'll spend more than you intend to, and when you get home and give everything a try, you'll have zero regrets.
Disappointing and funny tasting cured meat quality
Jambon sec tested extremely bad!!!!!
