The Brooklyn Warehouse is a West End staple and at the heart of the food scene in Halifax. The staff are always fantastic at recommending options and pairing, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is relaxed and cared for. If you are looking for a great spot to catch up with friends over a drink and appetizers or a fantastic date night, the Brooklyn Warehouse has to be on the top of your list!

I was really disappointed on my most recent visit to The Brooklyn Warehouse when, my partner who is from Ireland where tipping isn't a norm, was called out by our server when she made a snide remark about his not leaving a tip. We paid over $175.00 for our meal (we treated our friend for Christmas) and tipping, let's not forget, is NOT mandatory. Only in North America do people tip. I'm Japanese Canadian and have lived all over the world and tipping isn't common OR expected in other countries. And to be called out for not doing so in front of a friend was both rude and extremely awkward. What if we had planned to leave a cash tip? What if our friend had wanted to leave the tip? What if my partner mistakenly hit the wrong button because he wasn't wearing his glasses? Our server had NO IDEA what the situation was, so she should have been grateful that we weren't jerks who dined and dashed instead of ruining what was supposed to be a night to celebrate a new job, a new baby, and Christmas. If it is the case that the server's wage is too low and she relies on tips to supplement her income, then it's not my partner's job to work hard at his stressful job in order to pay a server's wages. If it is the case that the restaurant pays well, then maybe be thankful you have a job at a restaurant that pays you a liveable wage and don't embarrass your customers by making rude comments. The fact that obscenely tipping has become a norm is absolutely ridiculous. This dining experience was a fantastic reminder why we rarely go out for dinner or put ourselves in situations in which we feel GUILTED into tipping others to do their job. I won't eat here again, and I'll make sure to share this experience with others. To add insult to injury, my dinner and Americano weren't even that good (especially considering how much I paid for them). My advice: don't waste your time or hard-earned money here. Although pricey, The Bicycle Thief and The Black Sheep are both much better dining options as the food is better and the service (as we've experienced it) is more professional.

The atmosphere was delightful, and we loved how they've repurposed this building. The menu had loads of great choices for lunch. The food was very delicious, and really just the right amount for lunch. I gather suppers are a bit fancier. All the servers were lovely, it just took some time to get service (orders taken and meals)... Possibly they were busier than anticipated and so a bit understaffed.

Have to give it an amazing review. We were a larger group of 8. Our server was fun and attentive. New menu was out last night. Sirloin was cooked perfectly, I like rare. It was like candy. Risotto delish, Halibut cooked perfectly. We were able to bring our own bottle of wine. I'd make a reservation. Definitely eat here!

We had an amazing meal here to kick off our Halifax trip. Menu is small but varied enough so that everyone can find their preferred dish.We had the dragons breath salad and the lamb ragu. With a name like dragons breath, I would expect a super garlicy but it was a nice fresh lettuce wedge piled high with bacon and cheese. The addition of a grilled lemon was a nice touch. The lamb ragu was delicious as it had amazing braised lamb and plenty of pasta.Ambiance is low lighting, cozy and intimate.

Always have good food and a good experience here. My wife loves the haddock entree. She got it the last two times we were here and loved it both times. Steak and duck are both great choices too.

Absolutely stunning! Someone who makes important decisions at this restaurant has their priorities in order. The atmosphere isn't overly fussy or perfect. In fact before we ate I thought it seemed a little dark. But as soon as the food hits your tongue, it all makes sense. My god. Everything was on point, from seasonal selection to the most strangely perfect preparation of each ingredient. Even the Brussel sprouts tasted like a completely new experience to me. I'm afraid I am going to wake up and realize this place was just a wild dream that I had and that it doesn't really exist. Bravo.
