The Brown Hound Public House

I am blind and travel with a guide dog and under the Blind Persons Rights Act of Nova Scotia, I have the right to enter a restaurant with my guide dog without showing any paperwork. The hostess at this establishment insisted on seeing the paperwork, luckily I had it and I only showed it because I just wanted to try one of their beers before rushing back to my cruise ship. She even asked her manager so it wasn't just her. Guess this place thinks it's okay to violate the law and turn away blind people with well behaved guide dogs because most (particularly tourists from the US) do not carry paperwork with them everywhere they go because it's not required. I will add that some Canadian provinces do allow restaurants to request documentation but Nova Scotia is not one of them. I hope with the bad publicity from this review that this restaurant will apologize to me and get their act together so no one else has to go through this.

excellent. excellent. got sent to halifax from a diverted royal carribbean cruise. bus driver of the grey line hop on and hop off bus recommended. best fish and chips sandwich I've ever had. batter dipped fries excellent.

This is a regular stop for me. The beef dip is literally 10/10 and the guiness gravy on the poutine is making me drool. 😍 The servers are so sweet you won't need dessert.

Fabulous steak and Guinness pie! The meat was tender, gravy delicious, with flaky tender crust! The atmosphere was authentic and our waitress was good. I loved this place. Generous portion, so we cut in half and shared.

Great vibes! Amazing north end bar to try. Their washroom is so crazy that I took picture of. . Love this interior. Their beer and foods are amazing - recommend their fries!

A perfect little pub to visit anytime of the year. The atmosphere is exactly what you want it to be from the decor to the service It was all quite pleasant. The food was classic pub style with its own kick of personality, would highly recommended to anyone travelling through
