Honestly, I love the brown hound. I don’t think I’ve had one bad experience. Although, the last time I was in, I ordered my usual (bangers and mash), and the sausage came out sliced and diced all up the side. I don’t know why, but the appearance made me nauseous. It looked aquatic — almost octopus like? Think: a cooked spider-dog over a campfire. It was an experience I wasn’t prepared for. Please go back to plain bangers, please! It was genuinely a nightmare. To hide my embarrassment, I brought the sausage home for my dog. Maybe it’s a me problem but my mum said it was also very unappetizing. Love you still!

Visiting my son here and enjoyed a good meal and some cold Guinness, friendly staff and a great atmosphere!
Definitely mid in terms of food that doesnt accurately reflect high prices. We dont need another pub, but since we have one, it would be great if they could just at the very least bring the quality of the food up to match the price.

Went on a Wed afternoon around 1pm; wasn't super busy and I was happy to have the pick of a few seating options. Overall though, it was a disappointing experience for me. Was really hoping this could be my go-to in the neighbourhood, but unfortunately I'm hesitant to go again. Points about the review:
1 - Food. The food was amazing. The fries were crispy and salty and delicious. I had the fish tacos and my Dad had steak & Guinness pie - both were exceptional.
2 - Service. Server was good, a great balance between attentive without being too disruptive. I did like that you have a chance in hell at getting a parking spot, unlike the Agricola location. BEWARE: You can't use Brown Hound gift cards at this location. Despite it being the same Brown Hound chain, they aren't currently accepting Brown Hound gift cards. Some issue with the POS at this location. If I hadn't been with my Dad I would have pushed back on this more - it's the only reason we went. Your POS problem shouldn't be my issue, especially when you're trying to build a client base in a new location. At the very least, put a notice on the Brown Hound website so customers know before they go.
3 - Atmosphere. I rated this low for two reasons. The first being that, and this is a big deal breaker for me, the booths inside are almost a foot higher than the chairs so you're not only looking down on the person you're dinning with, but your food is damn near in your lap because the top of the booth seat is so close to the bottom of table. A pub/public house is supposed to be cozy and conducive to having a comfortable meal with a few drinks and catching up with friends - I was so uncomfortable in the booth I wanted to leave as soon as my food was done. Looking around, all the booths were the same and everyone was hunched over their tables trying to eat. Minor point of contention but relevant to the atmosphere rating, it was 80's radio hits for my whole visit. Would love if they could make it the vibe a bit more modern...even just one decade later. I know it's hard to believe, but the 80's were almost 50 years ago at this point.

My friend and I had a very uncomfortable experience here yesterday. We both had our babies in strollers so we chose a seat that was in a corner so not to be in the way. The male waiter condescendingly told us to move to another spot which we did and I also removed my baby from her stroller and put it away from all tables. Despite this, he was still not willing to serve us and explained that the owner really dislikes when people with strollers come in and how it’s going to get busy soon. Just a cautionary tale for any mothers with strollers, there are plenty of Halifax restaurants that will accommodate you, but Brown Hound is not one of them!

It was the last day of our week in Nova Scotia and we were simply exploring a few last areas in Halifax. Came upon The Brown Hound at brunch time and decided it would be a good stop. We made a great choice! Wonderful service, setting and food. Sitting outside we got to experience great weather and enjoy the neighborhood.
