The food and service were excellent. While the menu was small they had a lot to offer for almost any dietary restriction. If you're looking for a place to eat breakfast or lunch, this is the place to go.Dietary restrictions: They had many gluten free options and were very accommodating. They had a lot of vegetarian and vegan options as well.

Great service but food was subpar. Waffles were very hard and chewy and slightly burnt, my dirty bird croque was way too sweet (and I love sugar) — it needed something else to balance it, my sisters regular dirty bird was suppsedly good. The menu hasn’t changed much since it opened years ago, maybe they need an update. I don’t think I’d come again

Amazing servers and pretty awesome dishes. Swift service despite a busy room. Not sure if they take reservations, but they will put you on a waiting list during their busier times. One of the best brunches we've found in the HRM. Try em out for sure.

Amazing place for breakfast/brunch.Small, intimate, and the food is to die for. If there isn't a table ready, head over to the counter to get on the wait list - It's worth the wait, promise.I had the Huevos Rancheros and oh..my... that mole crema is incredible. The staff were even nice enough to let me take a little extra home with me! A Halifax gem. Go there.Parking: We parked roadside about half a block away, not bad at all.

The Coastal can’t be beat! I’ve been to this place several times and always make an effort to take any friends who are visiting here for brunch. The food is consistently amazing and service is extremely personable.

Always excellent food. The server was super friendly. The food was delicious and the willingness for the kitchen to make any changes you needed was excellent. Can't go wrong at this spot!

The quality of food seems getting worse after pandemic. And there are mice in the restaurant. The mice just keep running around in kitchen while we are having our brunch. Not expecting to visit there again.

All the hype regarding this cafe is warranted. It is my first stop every time in Halifax and Never disappoints! Recently ordered one of the specials, “The Southerner” Simply delicious!

Wow such an awesome brunch! A must! Got the Huevos Rancheros which was EXCELLENT! My partner got the Elvis which was also super tasty. Make sure you get there right when they open to avoid waiting. There's <10 tables inside and the wait list fills up quickly!

Don't judge a book by it is cover. The outside doesn't look so good. However it hides some amazing food. The service was great, but the food was terrific. I would eat here again, it's like a hidden gem.

The menu variety and classic is great. Not pure maple syrup while saying it is on the menu. Prices don't match the quality.

Phenomenal food and drinks. We ordered the vegetarian huevos rancheros (which were better than the vast majority of huevos rancheros we've had in Texas) and the mushroom/asparagus risotto (perfectly creamy and cheesy). The portion sizes were just right. Cocktails were equally well balanced. My only complaint is that their website is not user friendly and doesn't provide a glimpse into their current menu.

read all of these amazing reviews and was greatly disappointed. Ordered the breakfast sandwich (McCoastal) with sausage, as they recommended. It was impossible to eat, couldn't pick it up and couldn't cut it. The sausage was just a chunk of brown meat. I should have gotten the bacon option and it might have worked if it was served like an open face sandwich. The staff was friendly and the coffee was good.
