Brought my kids (4 and 1) here on a Monday afternoon and they were extremely well behaved (like, way better than the norm - and they do well in restaurants, generally speaking).
After eating quietly for 30 minutes, one of them let out a very short shriek. Nothing crazy, but a kid yell. This bar manager, a guy wearing a red shirt, gave me a profoundly dirty look as if we were disgusting to him. I may be mistaken, but I think I then overheard him talking to staff about how they’re not a family restaurant or something with the same sentiment.
Our actual server was phenomenal and the food and vibe was great otherwise.
Advice to management: Talk to this jerk and set him straight, or do away with the kids menus and high chairs and just say “sorry, but our managers hate kids” instead of encouraging us to come in. Your staff doesn’t need to act like it’s Disney, but they can’t snarl while making eye contact with parents.

We were at this place yesterday and we had a late lunch. I was with my family and their friends, atmosphere was fantastic, food was fantastic, the only reason I gave 3 for service the servers were super friendly....although some of our group waited for an hour or more for the food, probably they were understaffed and probably overwhelmed with a bunch of people came in at the same time 29 pax including me and my husband, my family and their friends were on a cruise tour and there were 3 cruises docked at that time, will l come back here? Of course I will!!

Called in for a late(ish) bite to eat with our two teenage daughters. The licensee politely pointed out that due to licensing laws, our daughters would need to be off the premises shortly but was happy for us to stay until that time. He then ensured that we received quick, but by no means rushed, service and I can honestly say that the service, the food, and my Kilkenny were second to none. We were finished in plenty of time but still had enough time to enjoy our meal at our own pace. I would highly recommend The Old Triangle to anybody finding thenself in downtown Halifax.

Visited on August 18th. I had the Triangle Guinness and Steak Pastry dish and the garden salad as a side. My wife had the halibut. Both meals were great and a minor issue was immediately addressed by Marine, our knowledgable and excellent server.

Great music, vibes and food! If you've seen the film The Menu you know there is a significant scene involving a cheeseburger. The cheeseburger I had was that burger (aka both simple and the best cheeseburger I've ever had). Our server was also awesome. Highly recommend this place.

Went in with my wife for lunch while we were visiting Halifax since this place was walking distance from our Harbourfront hotel. What a great Irish pub! The food was perfect. She had the Ploughman's Lunch and I had the the Guiness Steak & Mushroom Triangle (which had the best flaky pastry). The beer was cold, and there is a good selection of local options (you don't have to have Guiness if you don't want to). The service was excellent even though it was a bit busy. The atmosphere is what you want from a traditional Irish place.

Visited two seperate times during my stay in Halifax, once during the day for lunch and another for Dinner. Excellent choice of food with seasonal specials. Nice selection of beer, offering flights which is a nice plus to try the local beer. Likewise, local acts with love music makes the atmosphere top tier, recommended to anyone who enjoys Celtic / instrumental music

Service was fantastic, extremely fast, could not ask for much more. We just got a few Guinness, which were poured to perfection. I even managed to split the G! Will be returning for a Guinness in the future. Washrooms were also very clean.
