Quaint and comfortable small used bookstore with a really nice cafe.
The cafe was lively and fun with groups playing cards and board games.
Homemade iced tea and pastries were excellent!
Take your time!

Sometimes even the most wonderful place can be overshadowed by the way the staff interact with guests. That’s why it’s important for me to share my point of view in the hope of making a positive change.

The coffee and pastries are exquisite, the atmosphere is 10/10.
However, today my husband touched the bottom of a cup resting on the coffee machine, after which he was scolded and shamed by a staff member.

I completely understand the importance of hygiene rules, but I believe such matters can be communicated to guests in a more respectful manner. This would help preserve the lovely atmosphere that makes this place so special.

We look forward to coming back and hope our next visit will be as perfect as your coffee.

I’m glad it’s still around. It was my regular cafe many years ago.

Trident Cafe is a book and coffee lovers dream! The warm atmosphere of the business is awesome and lots of different types of books to browse as you enjoy your beverage. A little further from the boardwalk, but would recommend making the walk up!

Elliot Page sent me here! Lovely book selection, good prices, and some live jazz!

I live right next door to Trident. I pop over for coffee every once and a while and enjoy taking my laptop over to get some work done. I’ve always had a great experience and love their coffee. I’ve bought their coffee grounds too and they’re great! The reason I wanted to leave a review tonight, is to thank the gentleman who was working the evening shift today.

I unfortunately had some car issues and broke down directly in front of the cafe. After having some rather unpleasant interactions with some bikers who voiced their frustration regarding the inconvenience my car breaking down caused them, I was really upset.

The person working came out to check on me and make sure I was okay. He offered me some coffee or water and told me to come inside if I needed anything at all. I really appreciated this kindness and compassion during a stressful time.

Not only is their coffee fantastic, but the human decency and willingness to help me was truly appreciated. I will certainly be directing all of my coffee business to Trident. Thank you for your kind and very awesome staff!

I must say, this cafe/bookstore ALWAYS has at least a half a dozen tables full of friends chatting, or students working on papers, or someone enjoying a cuppa and a snack whenever I drop in to browse or grab a latte (and a pc of pistachio cake, yum).

The staff are all unique in their own way, but all so very kind and friendly.

The book selection is vast and wonderful, the staff switch up the front of the store with a mix of new (from Kings Co-Op) and older, second hand books throughout the year. I really enjoyed the Christmas classics that were displayed around the holidays.

I came for the (delicious) coffee, and stay for the friendly staff and awesome book selection!

Great Halifax bookstore. They hosted me for my Halifax book launch and it couldn't have gone smoother. Thank you!

Amazing coffee and a fun bookstore.

Always liked this place. Good used books and coffee. Watches and cinnamon buns and things like. Serves wine and beer. Been going here since it opened on its original location on Argyle. No on the southern end of Hollis.

More of a cafe then a bookstore. Lots of books but some of the lower shelves are blocked by cafe tables. Would come here to read a book and enjoy some coffee but not to browse the books for extended periods of time.

Lovely space with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Licensed with a decent selection. 'Venue' vibe. It's no MacLeod's Books, but it has its own personality.
