“We traveled down from Middle Sackville. We figured Shelburne and Barrington would have a hard summer after such a horrible spring. Blue Nosers gotta stick together. Emerald Light was a suggestion by someone who'd never been. The atmosphere was great, the food was amazing. The flavour combinations were a delicious surprise. Aptly named, The Emerald Light is a real gem.”

“We have fish and chips almost everywhere we go. Mr. Fish is by far the best. Lots of fish, cooked perfectly, not just a plate full of French fries. You can’t beat the coconut cream pie for dessert, thanks Annette”

“Always a great time being in A1 pizza. Staffs always nice and the owner trends to learn the name of all his customers. To the family that shares there secret sauce to the heart of the community. They volunteer and donate to any cause for the community of shelburne. They always make sure your food is specially prepared to keep you coming back. For the tourist community it’s hard for them not to come back to try the best donairs around. It’s probably this food here that makes them come back to visit. Such great people and so many memories.”

“We stopped here to take in the waterfront, and picked up some delicious cookies on the way. These are the best cookies we've had in Nova Scotia; the oat cookies with jam are particularly good. The cafe also has locally made goods, so we were able to tick quite a few items off our Christmas shopping lists. The knitted socks offered are made of high-quality wool and are very well-made. I recommend visiting this cafe if you're on the South Shore, as it's nestled in an area stuffed with gorgeous historic buildings.”

“We were cheerfully welcomed by the restaurant staff at lunch time. The chicken burger with fries were fabulous. The bowl of seafood chowder was full of clams, halibut and lobster as advertised. The chowder broth was milk and butter without any flour. The best and so filling it took care of any need for dinner”

“I'm not a beer drinker but they have good coffee. The food is good and they have homemade cookies and fudge that are yummy too.They sell Boxing Rock cans of beer as well as glasses and clothing.There is a ramp for easy access and the washrooms are extra large. The place is spacious so easy to move around.They may have live music at times.There is free wifi that remembers when you connect to it once.They display an artist's work on the walls for a period of time and you can purchase the pieces.”
