Went there for Valentine's Day, and the food was fantastic! My boyfriend had the ribeye steak and it was perfectly cooked! I had the filet mignon with shrimp scampi. All very delicious! Side dishes are delicious and very hearty, we took home the leftovers and ate it for lunch the next day! Ambiance is very nice for a date night! Service superb!

Third time we have eaten here. We come across the border to sightsee. Last Oct it was the beginning (and end) of a fall color trip down 395 to Lone Pine and Whitney Portal. Having loved lamb roast, chops and shanks for at least 60 years. I have never had better! The Basque family style is the way to go!! Soup, salad, beans, thick beef stew, a half carafe of wine, ice cream and coffee are an additional $8 per person when added to any entree. Had same menu and waitress on our way back to CA. Same MEAL, same service, same perfecto!!! This year we came back on our way to the eclipse near Elko. Same waitress (Rose) had a nice long visit with us. She was surprised that we remembered her name. But Donica, the head waitress waited on us this time. She was moving fast because the place was still full when we first were seated. But later, after the crowd had dissipated, we were able to get to know her a bit more. Again the food was terrific. I had lamb shank and Diane had lobster linguine. I ordered the full Basque style again and we were allowed to share. Still managed to have beans, stew and bread left over for a quick breakfast the next morning. I have no idea why those few bad reviews occurred. From my experiences it was the customers, not the food, which were a little off. Too bad.

Wonderful. Friendly enthusiastic service, and genuinely great food (and SO MUCH of it). Donica took great care of us. We were remarking that it's rare to have just good honest food with wonderful flavors coming from utterly classic cooking.

Quality/Quantity - French bread - Good, firm crispy crust with a soft center. Mac salad - Also good, but nothing stood out. Tri tip - Wow, done so well. I got medium rare slices. It was nice that there were different temp choices/cuts in the catering line. Well seasoned and melted in my mouth. I went back for seconds after everyone got their share. Chicken - Wow, I thought the tri tip was good... The chicken was as good if not better. So juicy and again, it melted in my mouth. I also got seconds of this after everyone else got their share. Potatoes - I believe they were red potatoes, also done well. So overall, 5 stars because the meats were done so WELL! Atmosphere - Indoor and outdoor spaces. Full bar with seating. Huge spacious building. Some private or semi private rooms also. Our event was outdoors. Open 5 days a week, closed Sunday and Monday; see my picture of posted hours. It differs from Yelp and their website. So I guess I recommend calling before going? Plenty of parking. Service - 5 stars. The manager, sorry I forgot her name (Debbie?), was amazing. She has great listening skills, is very proactive and ensured a great event. On top of all that, she is such a hard worker, managing and actually running around bussing tables and filing our pitchers of water. Price - N/A, as I was a guest. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1965. From 2003 to 2006, Nobert Koblitz became the sole owner of the Country Club Restaurant.

Went here for uncles 70th birthday. I have to tell you this place rocked it: 24 or so people and they did not miss a beat. Food was a solid 10. Service was a solid 10. Ambiance was a solid 10. Highly recommend.

The place stunk like sea food, the 1st waitress was worthless, food (spaghetti) had almost no sauce and was charged $6.50 for a lil extra!!I won't ever go back to this

The service and food are wonderful. We always go with the basque option for only $6 more. They do prefer if you make reservations, but we have just walked in and been seated.

So disappointed recently there....my Chicken Primavera came out cold...sent it back to re-heat and cut into the toughest Chicken I have ever encountered.....so, sent it back for good !!My fellow diners had the fresh fish which came out mostly RAW !!They are perhaps less confrontational than I am....trust me, for the price of fresh fish around here, I would have sent them back. Not sure what has happened to this place, but we will not be going back......

This restaurant is a gem in a small town. My wife and I were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary in the Lake Tahoe area and we decided to try this Basque restaurant out. It was a Saturday night and we did not have a reservation. However, the Manager, Donica Lawrence, was able to get us seated and we had the most enjoyable Basque meal ever. Donica and her staff were very attentive and accommodating. The food was excellent. Dining there was a memorable experience, and we will be returning next year during the summer months. We are from down south and I loved our waitress in the bar she was hot on it, besides her being great the French onion soup was to die for.
