*revised Food is delicious! The service was not great. They weren’t aware of the food they were serving when asking questions. *Have to drive 12min back to grab the other half of my order. I explained they forgot to put my order in the bag and his response was to “grab it and even if I am a lier he doesn’t care anyway”. Completely out of line. I actually really liked the food but now I rather never come back again!
Absolutely horrible service. Came at 8:55 pm doors locked , there were other delivery drivers there too picking up and the staff completely ignored everyone at the door, mainly the guy with the beard on left side . At the very least they could have told the people the reasoning

This place hits like you’re in someone’s backyard, and just fixed yourself a plate at the cookout. It’s familiar and deeply satisfying.
Updated my review,I can't give a full 5 stars because I've had a very wide range of good and bad experiences here. But!!! The food is so good I can't stay away. I've had missing parts to my order, but got a refund from management. I've had someone else's orders given to me, which is fine I guess. I'm not that picky. And there have been misleading wait times from online orders. But the last few times I've come here all was well. Maybe a change in management since the last year or so?Anyway I think the food is worth it, even if sometimes things are a miss. It's a but frustrating since I don't live close to this place, it's hard to go back and get a replacement. I can't stay mad at this place. Legit I could eat here every day.

I had an outstanding dining experience at Makai Island Grill! The Chicken Katsu was perfectly crispy, paired harmoniously with flavorful rice and corn. The Mochiko Chicken was a delightful surprise, adding a unique and delicious twist to our meal. The attentive service and inviting ambiance made our visit truly memorable. Five stars for an exceptional culinary journey!

The atmosphere was amazing (they had the Polynesian cultural center's canoe pageant on the tv - I love PCC) And the employees were super sweet.. but the place was empty, and they had heaps of chicken katsu and bbq chicken sitting there like there was an anticipation of a rush.We had been looking forward to coming here for months - we had heard good things!!But the food did not live up to anything we had heard. The kalua pork was not even edible- we ended up wasting what we took a picture of.The poke was "horrible" (I don't eat poke, but my family loves raw fish - I'm going off of their option) and the Mac salad was unusual. Definitely not a family favorite.Maybe our expectations were too high? But this local girl won't be going back. Growing up in the north shore, I guess I was just hoping for a taste of home and was disappointed.

As others are saying, this place used to be good. Now the teriyaki chicken is half burnt, katsu over fried, chicken wings look sad and dry. It's like any care for the food just disappeared. Truly disappointing after actually being good at one point.
