Gone but not forgotten. I just left a few minutes ago and it will be 60 years of history in about 20 minutes. My first and my last time there. Figured I should make it to the oldest Mexican restaurant in Vegas before it goes the way of yesteryear. I over ordered on purpose since there was no tomorrow and took a lot home. Food and service was good. Four stars only because I can't go back in order to try other items.

This place is moving to a new location but it'll still be in Las Vegas. They'll be called Blue Macaw in the move on flamingo and 215! It's a rare gem of a Mexican restaurant and I'm always satisfied when I leave. I love their street tacos as they use the sweetest part of the meat. Even before they're open, there's a line from the door so you know it's good!

In a city that is intent on destroying every last vestige of its past, Macayo's has remained a constant for over 50 years. Walking through the front door is like going through a time portal. The place opened when metropolitan Las Vegas had less than 200,000 residents, now it has over 10 times that many.
