My food was really good. We went for brunch. I had the pulled pork scramble and it was really really good.

Hosted a happy hour for 15 at Nellie's and couldnt be happier. From the initial booking to the execution was perfect. Location in MGM was perfect. Venue was nice and we had a good semi-private space. Food and beverage was at the appropriate level. Service was IMPECCABLE. Everyone from the manager, to the chef, to the waiter that bent over backwards to make sure everything was glitch free from the moment we arrived until we left.

Food: My family didn't order appetizers, so we waited a long time for drinks. The food arrived shortly after, but was lukewarm and lacked flavor. The chicken was barely room temperature, and the gravy was bland. The potatoes were unremarkable, but the fried okra and ranch dressing were a highlight. The chicken breading needs improvement, and the potatoes could benefit from being put through a ricer.Service: The table staff was sweet and attentive, but our waiter was largely absent and uninterested. We made a reservation for 7 pm, but were told it would be a few minutes before we were seated.Atmosphere: The restaurant aimed for a southern-inspired, classy atmosphere, but fell short. The decor seemed forced and overly fancy, and the waiter's attempts at southern phrases came across as abrasive. Overall, a disappointing experience.

I have had way better southern cuisine in the southeast than what Nellie's has to offer. I know this location is in Las Vegas and the MGM Grand Hotel but the bougie shrimp and grits that I had weren't worth the price they're charging at all. Four large shrimp and three grit cake triangles in a cream-based sauce aren't true shrimp and grit cakes at all. I've had way better versions for less that offered more. Next is the collards which were some of the worst I've ever tasted and shouldn't be so spicy that they are almost inedible. Finally was Roberto and his lackluster service. The best part of the whole dining experience was the hostess ,the food runner/water server, and the atmosphere. If your in the MGM Grand for any reason and are looking for dining avoid Nellie's Southern Kitchen.

First, the service overall was Professional and Genuinely Kind. The food was "okay". The chef is well known as a fantastic creator of "Southern-style " food.?I believe the "Las Vegas " atmosphere ruins the "spirit " of how food should taste. The plates we had were not worth $34 & $36.$34 Chicken & Gravy was lacking in flavor and portion-size.The meal should have come with two sides, not one. The buttermilk gravy should have been lightly brown. The gravy was firm and warm, not a thick hot liquid. The greens with meat were delicious!Suggestion: Have whole breast, 2 sides, biscuit and STOVE HOT, NOT MICROWAVE HOT.$36 Fried Catfish & Waffle was a small Belgium size waffle, cut in 4 pieces topped with not-in-season blackberries. The Catfish were 2 medium-size fillets. Everything tasted delicious, but the portions were not $36 worth.Suggestion: 2 waffles and 4 Catfish fillets.$16 Irish Coffee☕️ should have been priced $13. It was delicious ? and STRONG!Peach Cobbler ?: I had to return because it was not a cobbler, but a crumb. REAL cobblers have a flaky, buttery dough crust. A crumb topping is not a cobbler.Again, the service was very good.?

I stopped for lunch to enjoy some comfort food but there was not much comfort. Service was slow to non-existent as they all stood around talking. I had to ask for an orange for my beer, had to ask for napkin and silverware after food came and ask for salt and pepper when the sandwich arrived. The Southern Roll was pretty tasty. The Hot Chicken Sandwich was really not good. It was an overcooked chicken breast dipped in hot sauce that wouldn’t be eaten as the sauce was everywhere and the bun was soggy. I would not recommend for lunch.

This was such a disappointment. We had hoped the reviews were one-off, but they were spot on. Service was horrible, not just slow as one could expect if the location was busy. But there were 7 or few tables with no more than 4 folks at each table. Service was still slow to greet us once seated, to bring us water, and couldn't really answer questions.I don't mind a wait to bring food that hasn't been precooked. Freshly prepared meals are worth the wait, but why was the food room temperature. The greens were horrible and taste like they came from a can. For the price I expected much better. Of course things cost more in Vegas, but you normally have a better quality. Very disappointing.Lastly, the host stuff greeted us and sat us immediately, but our waitress "Martha" was horrible. I never under tip but on this visit she did not deserve any tip at all but gave 10%. The wait staff needs to be retrained immediately.

We had a show at MGM Grand on our last day in Vagas. I was looking through the MGM website for a restaurant nearby. I came across Nellie's Southern Kitchen and it looked interesting. This place reminded me of some southern restaurants back home.Everything that we had was made from scratch. We had homemade mashed potatoes, biscuits, sauté green beans, country fried steak and chicken n dumplings. The chicken n dumplings was loaded with chicken. Even though we were stuffed We had to make room for homemade cobbler.

The chicken fry (my wife ate) came from a frozen product I could probably buy at Walmart. The potatoes were mediocre at best. My chicken and waffles were pretty good though. Our waitress was over sat on her section and tried her best. She still got a great tip. Overall I'd save my money for Emeril's.

This was our first time here. My husband recognized the chef's picture outside the restaurant from TV. The food was AMAZING, I mean literally AMAZING! Our timing was perfect because met chef. We took pictures with him, he's a great guy. How many restaurants you know that the chef is there and goes table by table to meet and great. We came from brunch but because rhetorical food was so good we went again for dinner. By the way, I had the shrimp and grits for breakfast and the catfish for dinner and my husband had the chicken and waffles and the chicken and dumplings for dinner. We have major expectations for other restaurants now :-)

Our party of four waited for 1 hour to have our food order taken. We had the chicken, Mac and cheese with collard greens. The chicken was unseasoned, the breast was tough, Mac and cheese was cold and the greens were sweet.
