New favorite sushi spot place. The first waitress we had asked us if we had any allergies right away which I liked (although we don’t have any). Lots of vegetarian options and they all are flavorful, unlike some places in town with limited vegetarian options. There is even vegetarian nigiri! Quail egg shooters were great. Non-vegetarian: Alligator roll is the best roll, the salmon skin adds a lot of flavor and texture. We went around 2 and the place was pretty empty but when we were leaving at 4, there seemed to be a dinner rush. Pricing is more affordable than other places in town as well. Dessert rolls were included in all-you-can-eat, which was interesting and not something we have seen before. Good, attentive service, good pricing, amazing food!

We visit almost every time we're in the area. They're always so friendly and since having to go gluten free a few years ago, we keep coming back because they're super knowledgeable about what is safe for me and how to adjust rolls accordingly. Plus they have such a good selection of rolls to choose from!

My review isn't based on the food itself but rather that people seem to be eating their sushi, with the impression that it's vegan when it isn't. One of the main reason why I dont directly ask a server to make something "vegan" is because most people don't actually know what that means. A lot of people still think that vegans eat eggs and dairy. Based on reviews on Google, it seems a lot of people are eating the tempura veggies thinking its vegan when the tempura batter contains eggs. Egg is a commonly used ingredient for tempura batters so I always ask to make sure. I just called the restaurant and they confirmed it contains eggs. Simply removing the sauces, doesn't make it vegan. You'd have to remove the tempura veggie and that makes up a majority of the roll. Updated from previous review on 2026-02-07
It’s ok, the tempura was not very good.

They have some of my favorite rolls in the city but lately the service and quality of fish has been lacking.

One of my favorite places in Reno, the atmosphere is good, the service is good, the prices are fair and the food is delicious, the only bad thing is that it takes a while to bring the food but everything else is good, I recommend this place

Fantastic experience overall.
This has to be my new favorite sushi restaurant! The wide selection on the menu, specifically with their vegan and vegetarian rolls and quick service were the highlights of our experience.
Even on a busy night, we were served quickly, and as a non-vegetarian/vegan, my partner and I liked the veggie ones the most out of our whole meal. The fish rolls were also fantastic and we finished our meal with their ladybug desert roll- and I don’t see desert rolls often in sushi restaurants.
Overall, this restaurant offers the classic all you can eat favorites with their own unique offerings.

As a vegan it can be hard to find good veggie sushi in Reno that isn’t just a cucumber and/or avocado roll. Kei Sushi’s vegetarian menu is so creative and flavorful, and they are so accommodating to making any of those rolls vegan if you ask. I’ve had great service here and delicious sushi every time. Thank you Kei Sushi for giving vegans an amazing sushi experience!

We arrived shortly after they opened on a Wednesday afternoon, so there was plenty of parking and seating available. The hostess/server was very kind and quick to take our drink orders and was also very patient as we looked over their large menu selection. We ordered the tempura vegetable appetizer, California roll, Oasis roll, and The Optimus roll. Our order came out quick and everything was fresh and neatly prepared. I was a sushi chef for ten years so I can confidently say the quality was 5 stars. We didn't do AYCE , but would definitely love to come back and give it a shot to try more of what they have to offer.

Wide selection of creative vegetarian and vegan sushi rolls. Service was great, they were able to remove mayo on several rolls to make them vegan.

I appreciate that Kei has a large vegetarian roll section, standard veg appetizers, and has also created veggie nigiri bites for a vegan sushi experience. Their interior decor is nicely decorated, they have one long booth seating wall and the rest is table seating or at the sushi bar. Although prices have increased over the years, it's never a jump of more than a dollar or two at a time. Rather than turning in order slips, you order with the servers at Kei which allows you to customize vegetarian items to be more vegan friendly like removing or substituting mayonnaise - in theory ! Each time I've asked, I get the roll standard as-is on the menu. Another complaint with this is that the staff typically isn't english as first language, which makes for confusing interactions, and staff also hides in the back rather than proactively taking the next order, clearing dishes. My favorite detail about Kei Sushi is that their Jade roll is vegan friendly as-is 💚 their flavor combos are the typical Reno AYCE latin fusion which isn't my favorite, but many vegans in Reno love Kei for their large menu of options for veg heads
Kei Sushi is hands down my favorite sushi spot in Reno! The food is always fresh and flavorful, and their sake selection is the best in town. The service is consistently excellent friendly, attentive, and quick. I also really appreciate the atmosphere: it’s calm, never too noisy, and a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. On top of that, they offer great options for people with dietary restrictions, which makes it an easy choice when dining with friends. Highly recommend! 🍣✨
