This place doesnt advertise the fact that its reservation only. They have a full patio, and I saw people being served, when my wife and I asked if we could eat there of we did take out, the host said technically yes but clearly we weren't welcome. He did the same to another group. Don't waste your time unless you ou have a reservation. Im so turned off by this, I wont bother trying though

Kwok's has really gone downhill. It has been a while since I've been there and was looking forward to a nice meal. I got generals chicken and was highly disappointed. They used to use high quality nice juicy thick pieces of chicken. But what I got yesterday was fast food quality chicken. It was 90% breading, chewy, and overcooked. For $22 plus a $2 "rest fee" and a tip. $28 dollars for some low quality chicken and rice. What a shame. Kwok's is no longer the go to place for Chinese food. I certainly won't be back. Very deserving of 2 stars, only due to nice and friendly service.

Restaurantji Recommends
Food:
1. Greasy.
2. Salty.
3. Usually parts of the meat or vegetable dishes are tough or stringy, hard to eat.
Cleanliness:
1. Gloves not used at all.
2. Some dining plates given to customers to eat with are chipped.
3. Menus not cleaned, even when used in non-typical ways by customers' kids playing with them.
4. Tables cleaned with a simple wipe of a cloth, unclear if cleaning solution is used.
5. Pet-friendly, the service staff will pet the pets if the customers are ok with it, but will not wash their hands before helping other customers.
6. Tables are height adjusted periodically, unclear if hands are washed after.
7. Tables, including used napkins and fallen utensils on floor are picked up.
8. Unclear if front staff wash hands before handling takeout orders, both in packing and in payment.
Ambience:
1. Small restaurant, has a patio space with empty tables that isn't used for some reason.
2. The staff usually has secret conversations loudly in a non-English language.
3. The staff sometimes eats dinner with the guests during their business hours.
4. The staff is averse to online reservations seen in other restaurants at this price point, preferring the phone-in or in-person version.
5. If the restaurant has no tables available for walk-ins, the staff usually doesn't offer takeout options unless customers ask.
Service:
1. The chunker cashier with glasses is very grumpy and makes you feel that he's doing your party a favor to let everyone eat at his restaurant or get takeout.
2. The other waitress is great, very friendly, and tries to keep looking busy during working hours and interacts with all customers well, trying to bring joy to the dining experience.
Price:
1. Appetizers range from $14 - $75
2. All other dishes average to $20 +/- $5
3. Rice is extra, at $3 per cup, only white rice available
4. Portion wise, the exaggerated price does not mean larger portions, just one plate.
Parking: Only 4 spots of parking are offered by the restaurant. There is technically a 'parking spot' next to the patio, but its not a designated spot. Otherwise, customers need to find street parking, and between 4 pm - 8 pm, the open hours of the restaurant, that can be difficult. There is a parking garage a few blocks over, at around $3/hour.

I tried & loved the Black Pepper Chicken with the Crab Meat Egg White fried rice makes a great meal. I’m hooked!
Really great Chinese food. Better than your ordinary run of the mill.
I loved the Kung Pao Chicken, but I finally ventured out to try some other dishes. So glad I did... The chef comes around and asks about the food, waiters are efficient and really fun people. It appears they have fun at work which translates to a great environment.♥️
