I walked in 5 minutes before close, looking around for a minute and then ordered promptly with the intent of taking it to go even though there were still a dozen people or more inside. They would get me pastries but not a single coffee and told me to go somewhere else. I could see them counting down the minutes to close. I don't care if you're closing but tell me what isn't available before you take half my order.

I loved Perenn at first when I moved here. I brought my family and friends who came to visit and i would come early morning for a croissant and coffee. Over time I felt the service level went down. Maybe a team leader to keep everyone working and organized would help. I came by on 11.4.24 for lunch with my mom and we were near closing time. It wasn't crowded yet they only had dirty tables available. We sat maybe 15 minutes and while we waited for our food no one came by to clear our table or the one next to us. I ended up putting the dirty dishes on the dirty table next to us. We received our food without our table being wiped down and we had a dirty table full of dishes next to us the entire time. Unfortunately it got worse, we ordered the prosciutto butter sandwich and the fig/brie with prosciutto sandwich and they both came without prosciutto. They put regular ham instead which should have been communicated to us. My mom and I left and we both got sick and we felt it came from the fig and brie sandwich. It took my mom and I 3 days to get over one of the worst food poisonings I've ever experience. I almost ended up in the hospital. With the amount of staff they have you'd think they wouldn't skip so many basic steps and I hope no one else got sick that day. This place should be rated 5 stars we just had such a poor experience on our last visit.

The best pastries ever! A nice uptown area to get coffee, with an outdoor eating area.

The ricotta toast is absolutely delicious. The pastries are worth sharing. The service is good. The outside patio seating is nice when the weather is nice. The place is clean.

Cute and good but $4.20 for a cup of coffee is ridiculous, especially one you need to get yourself.

Such a great spot. Christian was amazing to go out of his way to help us! Such a great person & a great spot for pastries, mimosas, expresso martinis & so much more!

The food is good but a bit overpriced for what it is. Can't really speak about service as you order at the counter and take a number. Atmosphere is clinically clean and spartan. Seems to cater to a crowd similar to Bay Area suburban type. Not terrible but definitely not great.

Worth the higher price point. The omelette is truly French and the crispy potatoes is mind blowingly delicious. Patio is dog friendly.

Perenn has a lot of potential to be great, but after coming here regularly for the last few months has made me question that.

Let's start with the good:

Atmosphere: Aesthetically pleasing on the inside, fairly spacious

Food: One of the very few places that has different options for breakfast that isn't the basic American breakfast combo.

Service: Friendly staff

The bad:

Atmosphere: Gets very loud, especially when they get busy. Tip: google gives you their "busy times" so you know when to avoid the crowds.

Food: Incredibly inconsistent with quantity and warmth. I've had times where the food came out promptly and you didn't feel like they "skimped" on the food you paid for. Other times, it felt like they were scraping the bottom of the bowl and without a care gave it to you stone cold. Perhaps due to different cooks working that day and/or gets overwhelming with the crowds. Regardless, a restaurant that is managed well can still be consistent.

Service: 99% of the time that I have come, the tables are not wiped even though they've been cleared off. Would be good if they had at least 2 people assigned to buss the tables, one being on the "floor" at all times during the busier times.

From my observations, lack of staff, organization, and proper operations contributes to poor quality and service. For how much you pay for, this place is mediocre in my mind. A matcha latte and Turkish eggs come to $30-ish in total before tip. If a business is charging that much, then I expect better. It's sad that local businesses like this attract a large number of people for the "uniqueness" but in the end can't seem to uphold a certain standard that they so promise in their mission.

However, due to the very limited options in Reno, I will continue to come here. Just less often and earlier in the day.

Our people: "our team members' hard work truly makes a difference and helps us in our pursuit of unsurpassed quality".

Attached are some photos, did not take pics with every visit.

Lemon ricotta pancakes, variations of the crunchy brunch potatoes (extra egg, side of bacon, mushrooms instead of the bacon jam), and Turkish eggs.
