Kate made a fantastic and beautiful set of cakes for my wedding. Her vanilla cake tastes like real vanilla (and not just a white cake), and the cinnamon chiffon/cappuccino cream filling combination was a crowd favorite. Likewise, as one of my gluten-free friends said (in awe), "we get a cake?" her gluten-free cakes aren't just limited to a few flavors (we got one in the cinnamon chiffon/cappuccino combo as well). And they were beautiful and matched our theme and what we had discussed in our consultation.

I contacted Kate's Kakes via email hoping to get a custom cake for my sister's birthday. After talking back and forth for about four days I was ready to officially order the cake. And that was when they completely stopped answering me. I emailed again and called multiple times but no one ever got back to me. Now it is less than two weeks away from my party and I had to find a new amazing custom cake bakery which isn't that easy in Albany. I was very disappointed with Kate's Kakes.

We had such fun planning the wedding cake with Kate! We are 3+ hours from Albany, but Kate was very accommodating and never rushed us. She had great ideas, completely "got" what we were trying to accomplish with the design, and served up so many delicious options during our tastings! The tiered cake was absolutely adorable! It was exactly what we expected. Our families have many serious food allergies, so we were very nervous about finding a bakery that could provide completely safe options. We have gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, and soy-free guests, some with multiple allergies, so the last thing we wanted was a sick guest or a medical emergency! Let me tell you -- we knew we were in good hands! In the end, we needed 2 additional cake options besides the main cake. Some of us have given up trying to find tolerable gluten-free baked goods, but we were in heaven! Every cake was so delicious! No one who tasted them could tell they were "special" cakes. And there is nothing in the world like offering safe choices that are delicious! We cannot recommend Kate enough. Can't wait to order our next cake!!

We asked Kate to make our wedding cake. We gave her a recipe to use because we wanted it done very specifically. Kate made three different versions, all with her own "flair", before finally listening to us and making the cake that we asked for. The final product did taste good, but unfortunately she was so difficult to work with that I would not recommend her to others.

I ordered a Belgian chocolate birthday cake with raspberry cream filling. At first I was a bit disapointed in the appearance bc to me it looked simple but was still nice. No raspberries on top;however, there were raspberries on the inside. When myself and rest of guests bit into it, it was perfect. Even just cutting the cake its height is taller than other places. The whipped cream was amazing. Im hard to please. She didn't use icing or chucks of icing like in a grocery store, you'll taste the difference!! 3 layers, looked elegant. I was very satisfied and appreciative by the end of the day. Thank you Kate.

I looked all around Albany for a gluten free cake and this is the only place I could find. Turned out to be a great find. My wife was super happy with the cake as was I. If I am ever in the area I will buy from them again!

I requested strawberry filling but it was just cool whip and strawberries ( I was expecting a strawberry jam of sorts with strawberries). Also, the chocolate part of the cake was sort of dry. The buttercream icing was overpowered with the taste of food coloring. Again, looked great and other reviewers seem to show that for the most part, the cakes are great tasting. I guess I didn't outline enough how I wanted my own personal cake to taste.

Wow! The dedication to detail and quality of product is second to none! Kate made an absolutely beautiful wedding cake for my husband and I in 2011. This last November I special ordered a basic "re-do" of our wedding cake to celebrate our five year anniversary. (We do not live in the area, so we thought we would take advantage when we were home visiting family.) The cake was as moist and flavorful as I remembered, the frosting was not too sweet and not too buttery. Finally, the simple design was sleek and presentable to our family. I wish I lived closer so I could order more often!

Made my engagement party cupcakes, my 2007 wedding cake, most of the baby showers my wife attends, etc etc. She makes gluten free items that actually taste great. And I hate that stuff. The owner, Kate, is a one women shop. She used to work for a wedding event caterer and a wedding gown shop so she knows how to tie in a cake design to your plan. Oh, and prices are very reasonable.
