Sushi by Bou - Albany NY @ City Beer Hall

It's a serious stretch to call this Omakase. It's not . It's a progression of nigiri sushi. You get 12 or 17 pieces of good sushi. Not bad and not great. Good sushi. Having seriously looked forward to this dinner and the seeing what it was and how much it cost, I must admit I was disappointed. Honestly, charge a bit more and go all OMAKASE on it!! Small dishes, salads, yakitori items, fruit or desserts. Make it a real event and go all out!! And for the love of god STOP asking how everything is so far between each sushi bite!!! This is a chain, and I guess my expectations may have been too high. If you've ever had REALLY good and amazing Sushi, this place will not blow you away and leave you hungry and unsatisfied. If you've had the random “Asian” restaurant sushi, this will be pretty good. It's sad really, but we will keep looking for a great Omakase place in upstate New York.

If you want to experience a truly unique and amazing sushi restaurant this is the place. From the moment you are seated until the last bite you will amazed. Every single bite is fantastic and it's hard to pick a favorite. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.

Had an amazing time! The sushi was super fresh and every piece was delicious. The chefs were awesome and really fun to watch, they made the whole experience feel special. Definitely the best sushi spot I’ve been to in the area. Can’t wait to come back!

(My only wish is that they had Sapporo on the menu.)

fantastic experience! we loved every single bite! I have been to Japan several times and i can say that the sushi quality at Sushi by Bou was equal if not better than anything i had over there!

This is by far our favorite spot in the capital region, not just for sushi but also for drinks. Even with a core menu that stays the same, the chefs (special shoutout to Carl!) do such a great job adding little tweaks that make the pieces feel like they change with the season. The bougie pieces are always some of the most memorable culinary experiences. With the quality, it's a challenge every time not to splurge on some of the deluxe pieces, but we've never ever regretted doing so. Finally, I can't say enough good things about the service - Sam always does such a great job making sure that the guests are well taken care of

Incredible experience, highly recommend it to anybody who loves sushi. The attention to detail, the flavor combinations, and the staff were all excellent! Cannot wait to go back again! While a little bit on the pricey side the value is 100% worth it!

I was able to make a reservation a few days in advance for my husband’s birthday, but I called same day to make a special request/accomodation. I didn’t expect anything, but the hostess, the bartender, and the chef all went above and beyond in their accommodations and I’m extremely awestruck and thankful. What an amazing place. In addition, every bite was immaculate. It’s an extremely unique, immersive dining experience that starts when you enter the building and goes till you leave. I wish I got your names but thank you all SO MUCH!

Super cool chef. Bites were all delicious. Still can't figure it out, but somehow the Big Mac of sushi works.

My wife and I have been here several times and we've never had a bad experience. Can't wait to come back

Exceptional! Second time and didn't disappoint! Truly beyond expectations ! fresh premium fish with curated flavorings. Each bite is an experience. Having lived in Japan, I'm a total sushi snob, so I'm keenly attuned to the seasoning in the rice, texture, knife cuts and flavor. Sushi by Bou is the real deal. And... a friend we brought admitted to us that she doesn't like sushi but LOVED her meal at SBB.

This was a fantastic experience. Diners suit right at the bar where the chef is preparing each bite. The food is delicious and unique!

Incredible experience and service, and the sushi is divine. Enjoyed every bite and cant wait to come back again. If you like sushi and haven't been here yet, get it together!
