2nd time at Oakley's Pizza and Grill. About a year ago my wife and I were driving around the area and taking in the beautiful scenery. We were hungry and came upon Oakley. The wings, calamari and pizza we ate were outstanding. Today we were thinking of where to go and decided not to turn towards Woodstock and instead to go to "that place we ate at last year". We did not realize that we had to drive 35 miles to go to Oakley, and we were so glad we did. The food was great and the service was amazing. That wood burning oven turns out amazing pizza, the wings were as good as we remembered, and even the garden salad was delicious! My wife and I agreed the the 70 mile round trip was worth it.Highly recommended

We eat at Oakley's Place every time we visit Margaretville. I hesitate to share my true opinion because I don't want to create long, long lines to wait for a table but... it needs to be said: Oakley's has pizza better than the local pizzerias in my Brooklyn neighborhood. The word "better" does not capture the superior experience of eating this pizza. But for Brooklyn reference, it would be as if Grimaldis Pizza (the one by the Brooklyn Bridge) and Patsy's Pizza had a pizza baby. They have a fire wood oven and apparently, absolutely KNOW how to use that thing to achieve perfection in a crispy crust pizza. The sauce is delicious, neither too sweet or too tangy. The cheese stays on the pizza, not sliding away as you bite into it, and they are generous with the pepperonis which cover the entire pie. Honestly, if you are within 50 miles of this place, you should stop by.

Great Food, great staff. My friends and I love this place. The wood fired pizza is perfect. The best chicken wings in New York.

Every time I visit home I am sure to come to Oakley’s. The pizza is fantastic, the staff are always friendly and accommodating and if you’re lucky they’ll be live music. Indoor and outdoor seating. Cannot forget to mention their spectacularly clean bathrooms. If you’re ever in the neighborhood do yourself a favor and stop by Oakley’s.

Ambiance (4/5): The inside is super cozy with low seating, dimly lit, and tight spaces. It feels like a rustic log cabin with a fireplace and a bar. The dining area overlooks the kitchen where the firewood oven is. There’s also outdoor dining as well as an enclosed outdoor dining area. The guests appeared to be mostly post-mountain skiers and families.Service (4/5): The establishment was very busy but there was plenty of staff members on the floor assisting. The workers were all very polite and quick to get us anything we needed. The pizza took 50 minutes so I’d recommend getting some appetizers to hold you over.Food (3/5): The bottom crust of the pizza was soggy so the bites were unsatisfying. The buffalo chicken pizza was delicious but ultimately, I’ve had much better pizza elsewhere. When reheating the pizza at home, we pan-fried them to allow for the bottom to get crispy and it was a drastically better slice.

Food, service and the atmosphere - all wonderful . It smells good as soon as you walk in , everything was great - the salad , the sweet potato fries, the burger and pizza … ingredients and flavors taste very high quality it’s not an average meal by any means . Didn’t take any pictures , was too busy enjoying it all . It hit the spot after hiking some challenging trails nearby

Listen, be prepared to wait for the burgers and pizza…you know why? Because they are amazing! The burgers taste like real meat. The owner, George, takes pride in his establishment and his food and it shows. You will not be disappointed!

Stopped at this restaurant clinging to the road in the middle of the Catskills woods. I had to go in because it was crowded on a Wednesday night. They have a wood fired oven. They serve wood fired pizza but on that night had a steak special for me. Perfectly cooked steak, bistro quality salad, and mashed potatoes that were as a good as -- well -- mine., Friendly and efficient staff, like I was visiting a friends mom.

Our Zero Star review of Oakley's Place in Arkville, NY is worth reading if you value Good Health. YELP! Wisdom: Click on the One and Two Star Reviews of any establishment you are considering, and read them. It may also be extremely insightful to read the business owner's responses, and candor. Sadly, we sensed underlying hostility once-before, and chose not to speak with Christina Z. again re: issues. Oakley's Place's new owners have never been able to manage their business phone-line properly. Comparatively speaking, pricing on all menu items is unreasonably elevated in relation to food quality and portion size, based solely upon competing local venues. While a modicum of salt may compliment some dishes, the food's flavor should predominate. If massive quantities of SALT are applied and infused beyond reasonable measure, and to the point of toxicity, this may indicate something worthy of consideration. You may discover interesting revelations by reading this businesses One Star Reviews. It is ridiculous that these restaurateurs allow excessive use of salt at levels that might harm their patrons' health. This is especially relevant for seniors, and those monitoring blood pressure, and other factors. Even our extremely benign FDA has released new guidelines to reduce sodium levels in restaurant fare and processed foods, while referencing double-blind studies which confirmed significantly detrimental health consequences! As previously mentioned, appropriately proportionate sodium content may enhance, although individual consumers must ultimately choose according to unbeknownst personal factors, and salt-to-taste as desired with shakers. It is essential that food service owners responsibly oversea all kitchen activities, and establish appropriate food preparation directives. This establishes consistency among all kitchen staff. Oakley's Place apparently brine their chicken wings, as there is no other explanation for the overwhelming taste of salt, with not the slightest chicken flavor whatsoever. As-if this weren't enough, their kitchen staff tosses to-go chicken wing orders into the pizza oven within thin aluminum containers, melting large holes, while subsequently fusing toxic alloy to expensive wings. This explains the oily mess that leaked all over our other containers. Right! Rather than a thick Buffalo Wing sauce that coats, they use a cheap, thin oi! Impressions will most-certainly vary, especially from highly motivated business owners. Most of us have learned to disregard the opinions of those who have something to gain, akin to used car sales-people. Plus, Oakley's blue cheese dressing hits with an immediate blast of salty zing. Their breaded eggplant is so heavily saturated with oil from deep-fryer submersion that two pizza slices with said topping caused severe feelings of illness, nearly resulting in regurgitation moments after consumption. Oakley's owners also chose the worst possible bread for their hero sandwiches. It has no baked crustiness, and the soft consistency turns so pasty that the contents fall into one's lap before reaching the mouth for a first bite. The chicken cutlets have no meaty consistency, indicative of inexpensive frozen bags of processes qausi-cutlets. Their high-priced large salads are skimpy, and lack reasonable quantities of onion, cucumber, tomato, olive and cheese. At just pennies shy of $20, their Greek salad has very little feta cheese, very few Kalamata olives, sparse tomatoes, and does not even include a single dolma - stuffed grape leave. Despite multiple pizza oven attendants, they allow highly-priced pizza crust edges to develop wide-spread black charring, rendering much of them inedible. Inevitably, some crust darkening will take place. Charred foods introduce cancer-causing carcinogens to the gastric system, as-do meats, etc., and should be avoided. Have a look at their website image! It would seem that they proudly forego the basic attentiveness necessitated during open-flame oven pizza baking. It is not complicated to
