THIEFS!! I am surprised they're still open. Years ago i shopped here and the owner (gk) added the price of a $10 pill box to my order which i did not purchase and then set the pill box to the side of the counter. i couldn't see what was being added to the total cause the screen that is supposed to show it to you was turned away fr the customer. i noticed after leaving cause the bill was SO high. i wonder how many other times i got scammed and didn't notice. he also tried to scam me a few times with honey. i'm gk too and he shames my culture. DO NOT SHOP HERE OR IF U DO PLS CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS AND REPORT THEM!!! the lady who works there (i think it's his sis) is a scammer too!

Absolutely amazing! They had such good food and gluten free goods to boot! Everything was so yummy that if I’m back in the area, I’ll definitely try other things on the menu

Fresh Start is one of Astoria's sensory treasures. What a delicious combination of amazing food (try the Rainbow Sandwich), soothing products, and wonderful service. In particular, Haroula is so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! Cannot recommend highly enough!

I absolutely love Fresh Start and I've been coming here for years from Long Island. So many gluten free and vegan options. I've been gf for 12 years and their muffins are the best I have ever had! They are delicious and not overly sweet. I love the sandwiches too. The gf raw wrap is delicious. I wish they were closer to me but they are wellWorth the trip. Staff is so nice too!

I have been a customer at Freshstart since I moved into the neighborhood (5 years now) and I can honestly say that the food there never disappoints. What I love the most about this place is that their menu is 100% organic with a great selection of vegan choices, such as sandwiches, breakfasts bowls, desserts and many more. All the desserts and baked goods that they make are vegan and most of them are also gluten free! I have tried mostly everything from their menu and I definitely recommend a slice.. or 2 of the carrot cake and the pistachio loaf which are amazing! If you are into something healthy, this the best place to go in Astoria because they make tasty and nutrient rich juices, smoothies and acai. Comparing to other juice places that they sell a juice with 3-4 ingredients for $10, Freshstart has better selection, more intricate recipes and igredients( like flax seed oil, E3live, bee pollen, echinacea etc.) that in my opinion are worth it.

Part organic market part cafe. They have goods like candles, kombucha, bulk nuts, and other health foods in addition to food you can order. Unfortunately when I came they were only able to make tea off the coffee menu so I stuck to kombucha from the case. I ordered the fakin bacon sandwich and sat at one of their four tiny tables. The sandwich was heavy on the lettuce but the tempeh bacon was flavorful. The small chips on the side are the same brand everyone uses so no surprise there. Overall pretty good! I've gotten a baked good from them as well. Also nice that a small place has a bathroom.

If you are looking to eat healthy and organic this is the place. All their cookies and muffins are delicious and vegan. Also most of them are gluten free. Bluberry loaf is highly recommended! Thank you

I ordered the everything green açaí bowl. The texture of the purée was excellent and made fresh. It wasn’t an artificially sweetened glop. Overall the atmosphere and selection of vegan options is best I’ve seen in Astoria!

I walked in and didn't even realize that the lady sitting at the table was actually the employee. I wanted to order a smoothie but had no idea where to do that... Finally was directed to the register where the lady at the table slowly made her way over. I asked about the smoothies and felt like I was talking to myself. I was then told I could just make my own smoothie. I asked if there was like a list of ingredients or something and was told no. So I started asking about different ingredients for my smoothie... I literally felt like I was wasting this lady's time. When I asked about an interesting sounding ingredient I saw on the menu (blue majik) no one could tell me what it was. Ok walked out with 2 bland smoothies and one over priced chocolate. I saw the owners response to someone saying they received bland smoothies because they didn't order the way it was exactly on the menu... But if that's a fact she knows, then why is the first thing her employee said to me was to create my own smoothie?

Too much space dedicated to merchandise -not enough options on the food side For a vegan coffee shop, this place is a rip-off. $10 for a vegan chocolate bar and nearly $4.00 for a small coffee. Okay, so I told myself this was a specialty cafe Then I walked around. Most of the store had clothing items, bags, etc. There was a small area dedicated to baked goods, cakes, drinks, and pastries.. Not at all what I expected. Overall, very disappointing. I will not be back.
