Made a 7:00 reservation for a dinner w friends. When we arrived, we were told we had an hour and a half for dinner as they had a party starting at 8:45. We told the hostess that they should have either told us or not accepted our reservation. She said not to worry. At 8:00, the servers started rushing us and by 8:15, they started setting up around us. This was not acceptable and really unfortunate as the food was exceptional. All they had to do was move us or buy us a round of drinks or dessert. This all could have been dealt with so easily but no. Oh well...
Went here with my boyfriend for Valentine's day after reading other great reviews - Our waitress was outstanding and attentive, A+. The restaurant was nicely decorated , really making it feel like Valentine's day. We both ordered the Surf & Turf which was excellent, I really enjoyed all the food. Steak and Lobster were both cooked perfectly (Medium rare on the steak of course). Sat at a high top table by a window. It was a fun and romantic night! Thank you!

Honestly if there's anything I go back for, it's for the ambiance and vibe because personally, the food that I choose for the Valentine's Day package was mediocre. The half chicken was chewy and tasteless drenched in lemon taste, the shrimps were burned and had a strong char taste to it and the fettuccini was fine. At first, in the website the value for the Valentine's package said I'd be $135 total for a couple meal (a little over ofc with tax and other additions) but my bill came out at almost $280 with no drinks included. To pay that price you might as well give us astonishing food ... vibes and decorations were amazing but the bad food and unexpected prices brought the experience below satisfactory.

My family and I went to Tru Astoria last night for the first time to celebrate my husband's birthday. The Tru team was very welcoming and the service was excellent. The music and the vibe were so awesome. We ordered appetizers (Fried calamari, Caesar salad and grilled octopus). The portions were all large and very tasty. For dinner we ordered Spicy Rigatoni, Tru Burger with fries, Salmon with cilantro mashed potatoes and Lamp Chops with lemon potatoes. OMG! Everything was so delicious!!!! I didn't have dessert (because I was too full) but my husband and sons did. They had the cheesecake topped with blueberries and strawberries on the side and a chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice cream. They enjoyed their desserts very much! The staff even surprised my husband with birthday torches which made him feel special. The owner even came over to thank us for dining there and wanted to make sure that we enjoyed the food. We missed the live music which was going to start around 10 pm but we left around 9:30 pm. We will DEFINITELY be going back there. Great celebration restaurant. Tip: Street parking is not that great in the area but there is a Municipal Parking lot a couple blocks away on 33rd Street right off Ditmars.

Omg I not recommend I wait 45 minutes the hostess was very rude !! 😡 And the manager comes out yelling as if I were the one who was going to eat for free, instead of apologizing, I hope the owner of that business gives him classes on customer service because he will lose that business very soon due to having incompetent people like the hostess and the one who claims to be a manager.
