We went there for lunch on a whim on a weekday. The place is tiny and clean and doesn't look fancy. The food was Balkan style - either Serbian or Croatian - and it was very good. There was only one person working there and she took care of us well.

I've enjoyed Ukus for over 15 years, but feel like the meal we enjoyed from there yesterday was a new peak food experience. Now that tomatoes and cucumbers are getting really good, their salad, Ukus Salata, is genuinely my favorite in Astoria, with delicious Bulagarian feta and a sensational vinaigrette dressing. They threw in a free bread, which reminded me how spectacular their pita-like bread is. The meat-lover really loved their juicy, flavorful chicken skewers and the meat burek. I will say that their spinach and cheese burek is one of the greatest dishes in New York.
