I usually don’t write reviews but I can’t say enough great things about this place. I have been to a lot of restaurants and this place is up there in the top 5 of my list. This humble little place has some of the freshest food and they don’t use MSG unlike other places. The service is so personal and awesome! Shout to our service AIDEN!

Wow!! Now this is our sushi place! The food is super fresh and delicious. Especially the sashimi, the texture of the fishes are so gorgeous. You will never forget that taste, juicy, soft, fresh, a little bit of sweet. The restaurant also has hibachi which are very cheap, but come with large portion. Moreover this place is very clean and quiet. The servers are friendly too. I can't wait to go back again!

Great hibachi food and fresh sushi, lots of options. Very friendly staff, and very comfortable setting. Hibachi grill area is quite lively, while the rest of the restaurant is comfortable and quiet. Great food.

When my go-to Sushi restaurant closed (Mitsui), I was very disappointed. I tried a few of other restaurants in Bay Shore and wasn't really thrilled.
Then I found Sumou. Almost everything I loved about Mitsui is present at Sumou. The sushi is excellent (great miso soup!) The prices are reasonable. The service is great. Parking is actually better because they're located in a big strip mall.
The only thing that's a slight disappointment is that as restaurants go, it's a bit on the small size, and they have no booths. I really prefer restaurants with booths because (1) They're almost always more comfortable than chairs and (2) You get a bit more privacy.
If Sumou had booths, it would be absolutely perfect, but it's understandable that given the space available, booths just wouldn't be practical here.
Unexpectedly ate lunch here and what a nice friendly staff. The sushi dish was delicious and so was the soup. I wanted to cut my salad a bit more, but ate it. The dressing was good. I look forward to going back for lunch or dinner with others.
