They had me wait while I was on time for reservation for more than twenty minutes until I asked for manager. Manager Hillary tried to accommodate which I can see the effort. But they didn't have a few things from the menu which was absurd because I purchased a $200 colossal bbq and seafood meal and wasn't told til afterwards about the missing sides. Drinks was either too syrupy or tasted flat as if it had kool-aid as a chaser. I would only try one more time because of my experience with Hillary. And it'll definitely be on a weekday.

I really can't say enough! The food was slamming!! ... amazing Brisket ,tender, mouth watering flavorful . BABY please. Had the Brisket with Shrimps and Scallops. Hubby had Brisket and Shrimp. Everything delicious, !. And the Collard Greens and real Candied Yams !!!! GIRL What! We had homemade chicken empanades . honestly the best i ever had. Portion size plenty, we took food home for tomorrow . Waitress was great , wait staff attentive . Ambience was bright, new , big screen tv , a modern fireplace too. We were seated in a cozy window booth . Nicely decorated for Valentines Day . Part of me dont even want to let you'll know Lol, But Sammy's Smokehouse & Grill is a Winner! The service truly stands out—wonderful waiters who are friendly, attentive, and professional. Definitely a place worth returning to.

TLDR: Do not eat here: NASTY food and drinks, poor service, and filthy bathrooms (nothing like the regular Sammy's): I'll start with I've gone to Sammy's fish box for years and the food there is amazing. So we had very high hopes for this place. Walking in, the decor is cute and the overall vibe is great. It went steeply downhill from there. The food: the chili was great, seafood was subpar, and the bbq and sides were NASTY. Very dry, weird or almost inedible seasoning, and none of it was consistent with the typical Sammy's quality. The macaroni was bland and pasty, the collard greens tasted like a bottle of vinegar, and the seafood tasted like it was fried in old oil. The drinks: we ordered sangria and I have NEVER tasted alcohol like this. We first ordered the white sangria and it was the wateriest drink I've ever had. The waiter switched it out for red sangria and OMG 😳😳😳 It tasted like poisonous Robitussin. We couldn't take more than two sips, it was that bad. The service: our waiter was pretty rude, though there may have been a cultural element to this. He's disappear for an almost unforgivable amount of time but then hovered when it was time for us to settle the check. There were other things servers and wait staff who helped and were nice, which I think helped balance it out. To top it all off, the bathrooms were also filthy and in one, the toilet didn't even flush. This is somewhere I'd never come back to, to me there was nothing redeemable about the experience. Next time, I'll stick to the regular Sammy's and call it a day.

The manager was apologizing continuously by the time we brought the service issues to her attention. Born and raised in NYC. Been going to City Island since I was a child.
