My dad did not like the dragonwell sold here. I had to keep asking questions to get any service and it felt awkward especially for a first time visit. It gives the impression of an ambiance-focused rather than substance-based shop.

I've ordered from Bellocq multiple times and have always been more than satisfied with my experience and their products! Their packaging is beautiful and always makes for a wonderful gift. Highly recommend!

The tea selections are magical and you feel like you are traveling around the world with all their creations. Online or at location, your nose and palette and health will thank you.

Great choice of tea, would’ve been nice if they had tea tasting and sampling. Teas from various parts of the world.

the most unfriendly people work there, ignore customers, and talk amongst themselves

Oh Lord I lovede this place! Sooo nice interior, lovely colours and the lady working this day (yesterday) was very sweet, helpful and friendly. I have been wanting to try this tea for years, but to expensive shipping to Denmark. Finally I could buy some myself. Looking forward to tasting, will be back with that review 🙏

Went after having tea at Tiffany's and their signature tea is made by Bellocq. I had ordered a seasonal tea online but not been to the shop. They were out of a lot of teas. Every one I asked about from the Tea Menu list, they were out. :/

They had some oolongs that smelled amazing. But it was hard to find the store, and when I entered, I was met with no greeting or acknowledgment whatsoever. I initiated a hello; I didn't really get anything from the staff who was there. Only after asking, did we have a conversation.

Unfortunately, once I got home, I saw that one of the teas I bought was wrong. It was put in the bag but I had no receipt, email, anything to be any kind of record of my purchase. (And it was the type of black tea we had a conversation about which I liked and didn't. 🫤)

Since I had no record of my purchase, I contacted them, and fortunately they offered to exchange and send the correct tea, after I sent back the wrong one they gave me.

For the experience overall, just eh. There's hundreds of tea sellers and I've found others I like better.

I visited here in December 2024 and forgot to write my review. It was such a great experience, though, so I need to make sure to recommend it! I came here to get some chammomile tea off my brother-in-law's Christmas wishlist. They had the tea I was looking for, and I also asked the person working if she could recommend any other teas I could get him along with it. Although there aren't others super similar to the chammomile, she walked me through a bunch of different teas and their tasting notes, and we decided on one to add. She even offered to gift wrap the teas with ribbon since she knew it was for a gift. I loved the service I was provided, and the shop itself is super cute and cozy. If you're a tea person, I definitely recommend coming here!

Best tea shop in New York and the one I’m sure to visit anytime I am in town. Their milk oolong is one of the best teas I have ever had.

UPDATE: I saw the business’s response saying they couldn’t locate my emails. I appreciate them taking the time to reply. I write reviews under a pseudonym for privacy and safety reasons, but this review still reflects my experience from start to finish.

I was considering ordering a few gifts from this shop and got in touch with Heidi to ask about some details. She was very friendly and talkative over the phone, though the conversation sometimes felt repetitive and went a bit off track.

I appreciated her enthusiasm but didn’t get a clear or complete answer to my follow-up questions over email. After a few days without a response, I decided to buy the gifts elsewhere.

The interaction started off promising, but the lack of follow-through made it hard to move forward with my purchases.

This is some of the best tea you can find in New York, not just the city but the state. Staff are so helpful, knowledge and friendly and even when I no longer live locally I still order teas from here.
