The place itself is nice. However, my friends and I didn’t appreciate the blonde server’s attitude. After we ordered our first drinks she kept coming back to our table and putting pressure on us to order more, shortly after the first order. One of us said “I’m good for now, will wait a little bit” and she displayed a very bad face expression right after. It certainly made us all feel uncomfortable.

Had a plate of fish. Thought I was ordering a sandwich. Food was okay. Average. Good for dinner for. Value: $13. Cost $42?! They were not understanding. Price was more than listed. Do not recommend. Bad experience.

If I could have given this place less than a one star for service I would have. I'm hoping that the reason we were not served after one hour and fifteen minutes wasn't because my cousins and I were the only Black customers at that time.But, we got there 5 minutes before it opened up and the server said that we can sit at a table and we did.Around 12 pm, more people and the table next to us had about 5 people, their meals came and they finished it.We were 3 at our table and still no one came for our meal orders. We had our mimosas and water for the whole 1 hour and 15 minutes.I had to go up and ask what was going on?The place had by then gotten crowded, nut we came when it was empty.After apologizing we got our food which was cold, and if I was not visiting and my cousin saying that this was a good restaurant in downtown Brooklyn and also I was hungry for Eggs Benedict, I would have left.This was so hurtful and upsetting.They comp our meal and we paid 35 dollars plus a 20 percent tip that I still left.However, I didn't go there for free food, I can pay for my meals. I wanted to be treated as a person and not feel discriminated against.This was an awful experience.

Never been to German restaurant but really liked this place. I tried the cod fish sandwich and lemonade and really enjoyed it. My family members ordered the beer and wouldn't stop drinking it. They liked the chicken and waffles- they said the waffles were soft and meat was juicy. Hardly like chocolate but decided to try it since they were out of the apple strudel. It was creamy and not as sweet as other cakes. Definitely enjoyed the lovely dessert. Will come back again!

Pretty good place close to Barclays, but some less stars because the schnitzel is pork(not the veal you'd expect) was very good though, the server had zero personality (too bad), the place has a bar atmosphere (hence the beer garden).Have a pretzel, it's so good and a perfect match with a German brew... The stuffed mushrooms were tasty as were the German sausage variety too. So overall Black Forest is a good choice because of it's proximity to the center and if you know what you're going to get.
