The guacamole and totopos were excellent, and the cocktails tasted amazing. What wasn't great was being told we needed to leave by 7:30 AT 7:25 because there was a waitlist meanwhile my friend and I had still had full drinks left. That gave us only 5 minutes to finish the $16 drinks that we paid for. How does that make any sense? If we were given a heads up at the beginning there was a two-hour maximum dining experience that would have been fine - then I wouldn't have ordered another drink. Instead, we were given 5 minutes to finish up and get out. That's a ridiculous policy.

I went there Monday night and sat at the bar for dinner and drinks. The cocktails were tasty, however the food was so-so. I got the daily plate special which was not particularly flavorful, just over salted. In the beginning, the service was prompt and friendly, however the quality waned as the evening went on. My friend and I paid the check, and remained chatting for 5-10 minutes while we were getting ready to leave. The bartender then came over and said “If you’re not ordering anymore drinks, can you leave?”. I understand the sentiment of clearing out the seat for other customers (we were in process of doing that!), but there’s definitely more polite ways of requesting that. I won’t be going back, there’s plenty of other amazing restaurants and cocktail bars in the neighborhood.
Great place! I went for brunch and got myself some chilaquiles and a michelada, the perfect hangover combo.
The chilaquiles were the real deal, like the ones I had in Mexico, perhaps a bit spicy, but that was part of the experience. Buenísimos.
Shout out to Beto at the bar too. He’s such a friendly guy.
Now I need go back for some mezcalitos.

After holding a health seminar in the area my friend and I decided to grab a dinner before heading home. Dolores was a perfect find for this freezing winter evening. The cozy space was welcoming, our server Jeff was attentive and friendly ensuring we had our drinks and order taken in a timely fashion. The decor and ambiance is not only welcoming but cozy with a hint of culture that brings back a classic vibe that you know the food is coming from the heart and when you take the first bite, you truly feel like you’re at home.
We had the chicken soup that is freshly made by the owner daily, the guac and chips is a true staple dish that was not only fresh but full of flavor. I strongly recommend the Tlacoyo De Haba that was full of rich flavors with the perfect amount of spice and a fresh salad of Nopales. I also ordered two tacos for the table- El Rey (Short Ribs) and Lengua “El Bosque” (Braised Beef tongue). The short ribs were full of authentic flavors and spice but the true star was the beef tongue. I could eat those tacos every day. It’s braised to perfection and almost melts in your mouth.
Their guava flan was the highlight of the evening ending on a sweet note with delicious caramel flavors topped with what I believe was a crème fraîche . I highly recommend this place to enjoy an evening out for some delicious authentic Mexican food and just a chill environment for a get together.

I have no idea how this place has received so many positive reviews in the NYT, Infatuation, and Eater, etc.
The food tastes nothing like Mexico City cuisine, or authentic Mexican at all for that matter. There was nothing special about the food here whatsoever.
The portions are laughably small and for how much they charged for everything, as we still left hungry.
I guess the new Gen Z model of a restaurant is an emphasis on the interior design of a restaurant, rather than customer service, since our waitress took our order and we didn’t see her again until the end of the night. We had to flag down random waitstaff to refill our waters, give us plates to eat our shared appetizers, or do any of the basic things you’d actually expect to be the purpose having a waiter in the first place.
Just because your restaurant is popular right now and you don’t take reservations doesn’t mean you don’t have to work for each customer who walks in that door. If they’d come by more often, we might have ordered more drinks or more food and they might have made more money.
This is no way to run a restaurant.

I’ve been here maybe 4 times now and every time everything has been super solid. The food is just so good. I grew up in CDMX so having somewhere so close to me where I can come and eat this food is really special.

The only highlight of this establishment is the beautiful decoration. Note that ambiance does not equal decoration.
The dining experience was disappointing. The way the restaurant does not take reservations despite a small space artificially raises the restaurant’s “prestige.” Our hostess was lovely though!
Arriving at 5PM, I was able to get a seat at the bar. I was asked if I wanted to join the waitlist. The cocktails were truly disappointing. Enormous cups will with more than 80% ice. Cocktails are served in large cup—this gives the illusion of a large drink. Plus, some cocktails are topped with unnecessary garnishes, rendering the drink difficult to enjoy.
The price of the food is astronomical for the price and serving size. Portion size is TINY. The plate of the day barley can feed one person comfortably.
While service was okay at the beginning, the longer we sat at the bar (despite ORDERING more cocktails), service got slower and unfriendlier. Additionally, we had to order our food TWICE because one of our items never delivered.
Of course, the longer we dined the fuller the restaurant got. I felt that servers were giving us a side eye for staying at the restaurant for “longer than we needed to.” Maybe we didn’t need to “overstay” our welcome should our whole food order arrived at once.

I highly recommend checking this place out! The ambience and vibes are welcoming and cozy. The cocktails have wonderful complex flavors, and the food is really good too. I’m a sucker for good guac and chips and they were a 10 out of 10 for me. can’t wait to go back!

So glad I finally got a seat at Dolores! We showed up around 4:45pm on a Sunday and managed to grab a table and enjoy a round of cocktails before the kitchen opened at 5.
The food is mostly small bites, tapas-style, so I’d recommend going with at least a group of four so you can share. The dish of the day was green enchiladas and was very delicious. The aguachiles were also poppin'.
We tried (a lot) of cocktails and there were some real hits! In no particular order- the house marg with smoky salt, the strawberry michelada (!!), the tequila/aperol/passionfruit hot sauce one, and the tepache cocktail.
Staff was sweet, vibes were chill - can’t wait to come back!
