Emma's Torch Cafe Reviews
Enjoyed delectable food in a wonderful atmosphere while supporting an invaluable mission.
Today was Chef Ruslan's Menu Takeover and he did NOT disappoint! His Nomad Pie was phenomenal- the mix of savory beef and onions paired with that tart pomegranate reduction was perfection. Also loved the two desserts I bought, cherry tiramisu and millionaire's bar! Both are melt in your mouth magnificence! This is the best menu takeover I've ever experienced. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
There are restaurants that are memorable for all sorts of reasons, a 3 Michelin star restaurant in Paris, a fabulous al fresco restaurant on a dock in Tahiti and a fish shack on a beach in the Gambia - now I add Emma's Torch in Brooklyn. This amazing non-profit provides 3 month paid culinary apprenticeships to refugee women. Our brunch was excellent. Good quality ingredients prepared in innovative dishes with flawless service. Emma's Torch Cafe is a nonprofit restaurant with amazing food and the kindest staff ever! The kitchen is open until 3pm, and it's a popular spot with all tables full on weekends. The waffle breakfast sandwich with blueberry compote is a must-try, while the crispy chicken sandwich and fries are also delicious. The latte has a perfect balance of espresso and milk, and the pumpkin spice latte is a favorite. The breakfast burrito, biscuit sandwich, and omelet sandwich are incredible, while the pancakes are some of the best in NYC. The avocado toast, salmon tartine, and baked goods remain top-notch. The steak and eggs look really yummy too. The staff brings warmth and excitement to every visit, and the outdoor seating offers a picturesque experience. Customers appreciate the cozy atmosphere, especially the outdoor seating, which adds to the charm. The recent switch to disposable dishes has been noted, though it’s a small downside. Despite this, Emma's Torch remains a favorite spot in Carroll Gardens for its great food, welcoming environment, and mission supporting refugees. Some reviews mention that while the atmosphere is lovely, the food quality can vary, with issues like stale bread or cold eggs on occasion, but friendly staff often make up for it. Overall, visitors find the pancakes and fried chicken sandwiches to be beyond good and look forward to returning to enjoy the exciting and reasonably priced brunch options.
