Can't recommend this place enough. Don't sleep on it!! Everything was so flavorful and portions were plenty! Priced appropriately and service was excellent.

This place is ideal for both Persian food enthusiasts and newcomers who want to enjoy traditional flavors with a modern touch. Highly recommended for a date night, family dinner, or even a solo treat.

Eyval wants to be taken seriously as a dining experience, but someone forgot to plan for New York in winter.

Let’s start with the absurd: there is nowhere to put a coat. No rack. No hooks. No designated space. Just guests awkwardly draping long winter coats over weak chair backs and laps like it’s a casual café in April. And if your coat is long, it’s now dragging on the wet floor from snow laden shoes in the dining room. I even asked the hostess (who asked the manager) where can I put my long coat and both had ZERO solutions; so, I ended up resting my faux fur coat on the edge of a planter off the ground. This is NYC— we are fashionable and winter isn’t a surprise! If you’re charging these prices and aiming for elevated dining, basic hospitality logistics matter.

Service didn’t help. While very polite, our waiter messed up the order, he missed an item then gave incorrect information so we ended up with three very hefty rice bowls which imbalanced the meal. They also delivered a slice of chocolate cake for my birthday with a candle with no fanfare… no song, no “happy birthday,” no joy; it literally felt like a plop on the table. The cake wasn’t even good - tasted like it absorbed the smells of the fridge (they professionally removed that from our bill - thank you).

And speaking of balance: serving a feta dip with no bread (and no proactive explanation or accompaniment) is just baffling. Dips require vehicles. This isn’t revolutionary dining—it’s basic sense.

The frustrating part is that the food itself has moments of brilliance. The flavors are thoughtful, layered, and crafted with care. Very rich. Which makes the execution issues even more glaring. Eyval isn’t missing the mark because of ambition—it’s falling short because of avoidable oversights.

In a city overflowing with restaurants that understand both food and fundamentals, Eyval needs to decide what it wants to be: a memorable dining experience or a beautiful concept undone by preventable mistakes. Right now, it’s hovering uncomfortably in between—coat in hand.

It’s not worth the reservation scarcity.

Maybe I got a bad apple, but this was some of the laziest, sloppiest service I’ve had… ever. Especially for a restaurant of this calibre. (Will elaborate)

The food was good. Some of it was not good. The beef short ribs tasted were filled with what tasted like canned beans. Lamb ribs, which everyone seems to holler about, were not for me?? I couldn’t eat more than 1. A combination of the texture + the overpowering sauce.

The bread is good but y’all it’s $6 bread. It should come with the dips. The yogurt dip was basic but good. The Brussels sprouts dip was good. Desserts were good!

Only thing I would order again is the Wagyu kebab situation. That was yummy

I think the play here is a lot a lot of dips. Maybe the fish / chicken is better than the red meat, it didn’t hit for me.

The drinks. The Saffron martini tasted purely like moonshine, I got exactly zero saffron. Their coffee based cocktail I didn’t love (tasted cheap?). The cucumber mint one was alright and the mezcal pepercorn one was good. Draft beer was super whatever.

However, our server was on a different planet, one where attention to detail doesn’t exist. She came up to us for the first time asking for dessert. I was like we’ll start with the meal first 😂. Ordered cocktails which took 30+ minutes to come. Then, when it came to ordering food, we asked for recs. She started just recommending something and then adding it to our bill. I had to stop her, ask her to please stop adding things to our list and let us choose lmao. “I will add one of those” should not be something the server says, unless it’s on the house! It took her 45+ minutes to return with a draft beer. When I asked for the dessert menu, she gave me the drink menu and returned 20 mins later asking what we wanted for dessert, to which I had to say, I don’t know because we didn’t have the menu! They also delivered the wrong bread and the wrong cocktail during our dinner

A lot of people have loved this place and I fully went in hoping to join the club, but unfortunately this meal and experience fell quite short for me.

Everything we ordered was delicious (Kabab Kobideh, Shiraz Salad, Whipped Fetta) but the lamb ribs were exceptional. Highly recommend.

Absolutely one of a kind restaurant with Persian essence but on a very elevated basis. Truly unique and unforgettable. Highly recommend.

The food was so delicious and served to us by the nicest people.

I’ve never had these dishes before and I’m guessing they had the presentation and flavor, which held true to its origins.

I feel lucky that my friends knew about this place.

(A special thank you to the chef, who was eminently compassionate about my friend’s dietary needs.)

The appetizers were amazing, and the combination of flavors was unique. I tried the beet borani and the squash-and-olive dish, both of which were delicious. The fresh breads were also very tasty. The food felt authentic and high quality. The kebabs were excellent, and of course, the eggplant dish was wonderful as well.

This Persian fusion gem never misses. Every visit delivers incredible quality, from their must-have kashke bademjoon to the perfectly seasoned koobideh. Their seasonal additions—like the new mahi and kabab torsh—bring a bold, sour-leaning flavor that’s just as unforgettable. Reservations can be tricky at prime hours, but the first-come, first-served bar seating is a lifesaver. If you want consistently exceptional Persian fusion, this is the place

Contemporary Persian food with a lot of great menu options executed at a higher level. Overall I enjoyed my dining experience here, there wasn’t really a standout dish that blew me away.

I have never seen any restaurants without an official phone number! You can see a number on yelp, which goes to a voicemail not letting you leave a message. This being said, they also create a fake sense of high demand for their business, and charge $20 per guest for cancellations up to 24 hrs.

We needed a simple accommodation, to merge two reservations for a party of 2 and a party of 4 together. Ironically, there were availability for a table of 6 at the same time, but they refused.

All in all, they are unreachable, and irresponsible, and their business prefers a no-show to collect $20 per guest rather than serving you!

I had been dreaming of trying this restaurant for months, and my boyfriend even spent weeks checking for reservations around my birthday with no luck. We were told we could come as walk-ins, so we went on Sunday 11/23. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about 1.5 hours.

We waited the full 1.5 hours, checked in, and were told it would be another 1.5 hours. Even though that was disappointing, we decided to stick it out since it was a special occasion. After waiting a total of three hours, we went back in—and were never seated. No updates, no apology, no acknowledgment of the time we’d already spent waiting.

It was incredibly disappointing, especially since this was supposed to be a birthday dinner and we came prepared to wait. I really hope they improve their communication and transparency with wait times, because this experience left us walking away really frustrated.
