I had a truly wonderful experience with [Name of Place/Product/Service]! Everything felt thoughtful and well-executed, from the [specific detail about atmosphere/design/packaging] to the [specific detail about product quality/staff interaction]. It was clear that a lot of care went into it.

One of my favorite hot pot spots in brooklyn… food is always good, they have a nice selection of meats and skewers. Good cold beer and soju too. Highly recommend!

This is the worst and most disgusting hot pot place I’ve ever been to.
Less than 30 minutes after finishing the meal, I started vomiting.
The food tasted extremely unnatural, full of artificial additives and “chemical flavors,” not real ingredients.
This place clearly does not care about food quality or customer health.
Strongly NOT recommended. Avoid at all costs.

This is the best AYCE hotpot in Brooklyn. Can’t beat its 3 essentials: taste, service & price. The broth itself (I had herbal soup & spicy soup-duo broth in a big pot) were already tasty without additional condiments. They served blue crabs, shrimp, fish, clam, beef, lambs etc..nonstop. The servers were so attentive, making sure if i needed more (food/drink) order & refilled the broth without asking. Excellent service! On top of that, a bottle of beer $3 or a pitcher of Sapporo for only $9. I wish they’d open a joint in Queens! I would definitely go back there again.
I used to love Laojie, loved it atmosphere, loved the food. However, the past two times that I've been here, I experienced racism. There were many empty tables when we walked in they decided to sit us in the tightest spot where we are unable to move around and surrounded by garbage. When we asked to move to a different table, they told us every table is reserved while there was an Asian man sitting by himself at a table that can accommodate 4 people. but we were told that we cannot sit anywhere else because we are 2 people. but there were other people sitting in 4 people tables. I do not appreciate the treatment we have gotten. my boyfriend is hispanic and I'm asian. and everyone else in the restaurant is mostly Asian people so it is pretty obvious what the motive is here. When we voiced our discomfort to the waitress, she looked around and smiled and proceeded to ask us if we are ready to order. No acknowledgement, no apology, just straight up ignored us.

Very good value proposition AYCE option for hotpot and skewers. They have multiple locations across Brooklyn and Manhattan because the broth and food is good. My go to broth is usually bone or tomato soup base. The fish/shrimp paste is underrated and done well! If your birthday is within 3 days and you have a party or 4 or more, the birthday guy/gal eats for free. Just tell them you don’t want the loud music celebration or else they’ll do it. The interior decor is also themed nicely for “Lao Jie” experience. The best part is always the dessert as everyone enjoyed the mango pudding at the end! Make sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind attracting all that hot pot scent afterwards because it definitely will soak up all the aroma!

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! We saw ROACHES by our table and when the staff saw the situation, they did not even apologize or do anything about this situation. I always come to this location for the AYCE hot pot and skewers, but I will NOT BE COMING HERE AGAIN.
always a pleasure!!! THEY ALWAYS PLAY EXO that’s extra points!!!! laojie is such a solid spot at an incredible price point. have been here so so many times with friends and family throughout the years, would recommend to all!

Always a great time when I go to LaoJie. My family calls it Lao Gai, or old street, in our dialect. The food is awesome, the service is awesome, the atmosphere is awesome. They provide bags to put your coats and bags in. The skewers here are a must. No need to worry about food poisoning due to undercooked food. The skewers come prepared and ready to eat. The hotpot is also very solid. Much better than some other options available to you on 8th ave. There is unlimited soda so I had my fair share of diet coke. Ventilation is great so I didn't need to burn up as I had my food cooking up in front of me. All in all, this was a very solid hotpot and bbq skewer restaurant in the 8th ave area!

Came for a birthday dinner -- we enjoyed the tomato broth, high quality meats and seafood, efficient service
the meat was fresh and service started out good but went downhill. there’s a 2 hour dining time but around the 1h55m mark we were trying to order dessert and were cut off from doing so. the server was about to put in the order, looked at the screen, then just simply said “your time is up”, and walked away. it was a tuesday night so the restaurant was about 90% empty. it was also nowhere near closing hours since it was around 9pm. being rushed out like that was pretty rude and unnecessary.
