Amazing food! The kosha mangsho, biriyani, and luchi are as authentic as it gets. Also shoutout to the basmati rice beer, which was so smooth! We had a lovely Friday night dinner here and hope to be back soon!

The portion was disappointing for Biye Bari Thali. We asked for extra rice and even that was not enough. Food was average. Quite liked the fish fry. Is it worth the money? – No.

Kosha mangsho was very soft! Chennar dalna and bhappa maach were really good too. Will come back again!

We were hyped to finally try Masalawala & Sons, but the experience was a complete letdown. The much-anticipated thali was a joke.

It started promising with luchi, fish fry, and cholar daal, which were good. Then everything collapsed. The chingrir malaikari was thin, watery, and flavorless. The mutton tasted unseasoned, with underwhelming cuts that felt like an afterthought. The vegetarian thali was even worse. The dhokar dalna had just a couple of sad, tiny dhoka pieces floating in a bland gravy, and the chanar dalna was equally pathetic.

The thali felt like a careless, slapped-together side hustle rather than something worthy of the restaurant’s hype. I left disappointed and annoyed, and I would strongly advise against ordering their lunch set.

After so much hype, I finally went and was pretty disappointed! The prawn malai kari had 5 prawns swimming in a sea of sauce. Tasty yes but 5 is an appetizer size, not entree size. Tiny side of rice for all that sauce. Service was neglectful, I had to ask for water and for a refill and to order. I had planned to get more food after the main but after seeing the size of the starters and dessert at the neighboring table, I just paid and left. There's nothing wrong with charging more for a dining experience, but this just didn't offer what it needed to to justify the price.

One of the best meals I’ve had out in a long time. Everything here from the service to the ambience was amazing! For appetizers we had the biyebarir fish fry and the aloo chaat, both were spicy but we found ourselves wanting more. The entrees stepped it up a notch with the prawn malai kari and the kosha mangshu which were 100% worth coming back for. Our server Zaraith was extremely knowledgeable and guided us through the entire meal and the manager Joy was very hospitable. Will be back soon for sure, thank you Unapologetic for the experience!

portions too small. the butter chicken tastes good but is basically a kid's meal. one tiny bowl of rice for two entrees. saag paneer was to earthy and flavor wasn't consistent throughout

I'm mainly making pick-up orders, and never did my order was 100% fine. Most disturbing was when I made all the way to pickup (20 minutes walk) to discover their ordering system was not even working (and I was charged nonetheless). Couldn't give me a call???

Beautiful restaurant, decor, and amazing waiters. Unfortunately the food , almots everything, was unimaginably salty. The beguni was not (undersalted) but the biryani and my partners fish fry was crazy. It ruined our palate for the rest of the meal. The kind managers did give us a refund for the biggest offenders, which is why overall i bumped this up to 2 stars.

I would expect much higher quality food when spending like 40-50 per person.

It was excellent before (like, 6 months ago) — but food quality was not so good this time around (Fall 2025). Super oily. Maybe they should stop thali.

And overall was not a clean restaurant. We killed a fly while there 😳. A few customers on a Saturday and only one server. Disappointed.

Drove all the way from DC, just for this, and it was totally worth it. Probably the only restaurant in the US that has been able to elevate an already unique Bengali Indian cuisine.

Truly authentic East Indian flavors that stand out from a crowded Indian restaurant scene in NYC and perhaps in the entire country.
