The best bar that ever existed. Those of us who grew up in Brooklyn have nothing but respect for this place. I define great bars by the amount of time you can sit at a bar and be completely content. My record is 7 hours. My dad had his last drink here. This place is home. For those of you that didnt grow up here: You all need to show more respect here. I'm glad that this place makes you feel like you are a Brooklyn OG. You are not. You "Fishermans Beanie, Frye Boots, $250 Henley, and Aviators" type boys need to simmer down. Drink your drink. Tip your bartenders. Respect the locals.

Bartender from Croitia is great but the place looks like a homeless shelter.

It's cash only so look out for that, but otherwise this bar is a dang blast! Fun karaoke, cool bartenders, chill space. Y'all. Place jams.

Have never been moved to write a Yelp review before, but my experience a few nights ago was inspiring. Celine the bartender was one of the rudest, most aggressive people I have ever encountered. I was charged $10 for a well shot of whiskey, and when I asked about it (honestly thinking there'd been a mistake), it quickly became clear that she was hoping for any reason to start a fight. Over and over I chose not to engage with with her hostile comments, but my friends and I were all taken aback by her behavior. Truly bizarre. Bummer that what could be a cool bar has someone so unwell behind the counter.

Tried it again to see if they changed they are really expensive and the place smells and looks like shit.A friend wanted to go and dragged me along.A shot of Evan Williams a really cheap whiskey and a bottle of bud was $17 dollars the bartenders don't give buy backs no matter how much you spend I recommend going to ice house in redhook you can get a shit and a beer for $6 bucks.Montero is over priced if you go have one beer and leave your bank account will thank you later I don't know what type of business they are running but it's horrible I only gave one star again because yelp wont let me put zero stars

Absolutely amazing bar. The laid back atmosphere and history is unlike anything else in New York. Hope it’s around for another 100 years.

I am giving this a one star solely for the person running karaoke. As a non-regular she moved my card to the back multiple times. We waited two hours and were not called, the average song is 3 minutes and 17 seconds, that means about 40 songs played without us going up. The service was great and the atmosphere was fine. The drink prices are way too high for this bar as well 10$ for a well and cranberry is absurd if you consider yourself a dive bar. 7$ for a beer is also a losing proposition. Your business treats visitors like garbage and only cares for regulars which is a great business tactic if you never want to grow.

Do you want to be treated like shit! Then this is the place for you! 10$ well drinks that are the size of a shot. They only survive because of music students who rotate in and out of their doors.

Fantastic Brooklyn Heights dive bar with a surprise karaoke in the back. (Who would have thought those existed?!) Enchanting decor, straightforward service, beers are beers ?

I ordered 7 beers and was charged what I thought was $40 (I even clarified) - I gave $50 and thought nothing more of it.Later, there was an announcement calling out "the cheap f___ who only tipped $1" - it was me. An honest mistake, I would never willingly undertip, but please just speak to me privately. No need for a humiliating announcement.Awful place. Pay your staff. Pathetic institution. I will never go back.PS when I went back and tipped an extra 43% I did not get a shout out. I would've loved a shout out.?

God I love this spot. Karaoke nights are so much fun, everyone lets loose and it’s such a fun mix of people just letting their guard down and having a good time.

I want to start off by saying three things -- One, I love this bar (the bartenders, except for the one described below, are all amazing)! Two, I'm not usually a "Yelper" but only do so when I feel the need to. DO NOT COME HERE WHEN THE BARTENDER DESCRIBED BELOW IS WORKING. I live around the corner and have been coming to this bar for a few years now. I came here on Wednesday night (7/12) to meet some friends, grab some drinks, and play pool. From the second I walked in, the bartender ( girl with short brown bob) was already glaring at me. She essentially ignored me for a few minutes while she happily chatted and laughed with other patrons (who me and my friend actually ended up knowing) So far, nothing out of the ordinary. I get it, you're tired and busy and this is New York, so I was willing to let this go. After more time of being ignored, she barks out from behind the bar "IDS." It was almost as if she thought I was trying to trick her or be sneaky?? I would've showed her the second I walked in but she had no interest. Again, I get it, but I don't like being not only stared at and ignored but now BARKED at? I hand her my ID and try to lighten the mood by saying "haha the picture is so bad, bad hair day" to which she continues to glare at me and slams the card back on the table and walks away. Maybe I wanted a drink...? But she couldn't have cared less. Off she goes to smile and chat and laugh with her friends. Finally, my friend orders a corona light, to which she snarkily replies, "we don't have that." so we ask for the regular, we get the drink, and pay. Which leads me to tipping. My friend leaves a nice tip and OBVIOUSLY I always tip at bars, restaurants, coffee places, etc. As someone who has worked in the food service industry for 6+ years. I GET IT! But I would not have given this woman an extra CENT. I think that staff deserves to know when they aren't doing a great job -- why would I tip this woman who is actively making me feel bad for just being in her space? For the rest of the night, she was, again, glaring, rolling her eyes as she moved about the space, and just setting a horrible tone and ambience for the bar that she is supposed to be representing. Finally, at the end of the night, she walks over to the pool table asking for last call and then grumbles "and this is your last game of pool." AGAIN, she is not actively doing anything wrong here but the way in which she is talking to people who are spending money there and putting money in her pocket is completely unacceptable. I refuse to come somewhere where I'm afraid or nervous to ask for something as simple as water. Meanwhile, my friend finally asked for a cup and got a sippy cup, barely halfway full, at room temp. There is no reason why she couldn't have tried just a LITTTTTLEEEE bit harder. Oh well, I shouldn't have expected anything more from her at this point. I have never EVER felt less than at a spot in this neighborhood like this. This bartender is a HORRIBLE example of an employee and NOT someone I would want working for me in any capacity. If I were in charge, she either needs to get her shit together and treat people with basic respect or decency, or she needs to leave and come back when she is able to do so. Again, I love love LOVE this bar, but if I come back and she is working I will most certainly NOT be tipping her. I hope she is taken care of and finds someone to help her get the stick out of her ass.
