Palmetto has great drinks and a great look, but it also has infamously terrible acoustics and chilly, bordering on rude service. The space desperately needs some sort of sound baffling to mediate the bare floors and return the sound level to something more appropriate for a cocktail bar. Honestly it prevents me from going there more often.
The cocktails are sharp. The natural wine knows what it’s doing. Dry plants, good shadows. The music’s loud enough to cover for you if you’re nervous. Which helps. The bar’s all elbows and leaning in. But the booths—that’s where it happens. Curved little velvet coves. You sit too close and knock knees if you want to. And you do.

Once, in one of these booths, someone handed me a Shohei Ohtani baseball card from Japan. Just passed it across the table...
I've always had a lovely time at this bar but tonight made me want to leave a review. I tucked myself into a corner table to knit and have a glass of wine after a long week and had three different servers who were all very attentive and friendly. I didn't get the first one's name, but Fiona and Molly both took the time to introduce themselves and chat with me for a sec despite it being especially busy and they both made me feel so welcomed and comfortable.
