Would very safely qualify for a mall steak joint in any any country. In the US it's called fine dining. A lot of tourist crows the entry bar and your name is then called out (like you were in a police station) and you are taken to restaurant seating from the 60s. Service was okay but again not reflective of the price point. Now the main event 180 bucks for steak for two. Very ordinary trader Joe quality cut, completely flavorless and devoid of marbling.

Honestly it's been a few days and I still regret falling for the hype. This place is a hard pass

Beautiful space but so overpriced. Meat dishes are good here, but I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're vegetarian or vegan. They have options but they weren't amazing.

Good meat, but in my opinion it doesnt justify the crazy prices. Beware, they dont accept credit card or foreign débit cards…

Porterhouse was excellent. German potatoes were absolutely non edible overcooked and burnt. Broccoli undercooked. Bread was hard and cold. Apple strudel overcooked and burnt. Very disappointed. I had waited 20 years to go. Service was abysmal. I would not advise couples of color not to go there you will be treated like second class citizens

Always been one of the best places in the US to enjoy a steak. So many famous people have savored this establishment and there’s a lot to like. We enjoyed the tomato and onion salad, ceasar salad and crab cake to start. Then it was on to the main course, steak for 3 with the t-bones medium rare. Side last were spinach and potatoes. A few gold coins with the Peter Lugar logo and it was a wonderful dinner!

One of the best steaks I've ever had, simple, rich and fun, this steakhouse is doing what's its best at. Providing all the classics to the full extent, well done!

As a steak lover and fanatic, this was the most spectacular restaurant I have ever been to. The meal was so amazing. The service was like nothing I ever experienced before. They were so attentive and never made me feel uncomfortable or that I was being rushed. I cannot wait to go back again!

Peter Luger is undoubtedly a New York institution (quickly evolving to be one for the wrong reasons). Based on our visit, the experience does not live up to the reputation.

Unfortunately, our recommendation is to skip this restaurant with confidence.

The steak was very tender with a decent crust, on one side only, yet with a surprisingly lack of flavor or seasoning.. especially so for a dry-aged cut. It felt like a case of stopping halfway on what could have been an excellent cut. Perhaps that’s why it's served with a generous helping of their 'signature' steak sauce, which unfortunately tasted more like a sweet cocktail sauce, heavy on the ketchup and sugar, and not something that complements a good steak, or anything for that matter.

The creamed spinach was passable, though unremarkable. It might appeal more to someone trying creamed spinach for the first time. The thick-cut bacon was decent but expensive.

In a city known for its incredible food, Peter Luger feels stuck in time in the wrong ways. For the price, the value simply isn’t remotely there. While I might have rated the experience higher if it were more reasonably priced, at the current cost (cash only), it felt more like a 0/5 experience. There are far better dining options in New York that deliver both quality and character. I wish I had visited back during its glory days.

One more note - we've heard the service to be brusque, or indifferent at best. That was not our experience - our server was polite and funny.

If you're looking for a restaurant that is dated with lackluster food and coasting on reputation, you have come to the right place. Otherwise, you are in New York City; there are so many better options to spend your time and money.
