My fiancé and I did a staycation in Williamsburg, and I chose everything we did and ate based on reviews and recommendations. Puerta Del Alma had some of the best reviews, and people consistently highlighted the food, so we were excited to try it. The ambiance was beautiful and inviting, and the music was diverse, which I really appreciated. We didn’t have reservations, but we walked in and were about to be seated. I wasn’t happy with the table the waiter chose, so I asked if we could sit elsewhere. He told us the upper deck seating area was reserved for a private party. I’m not saying he wasn’t being honest, but the tables looked separated especially the empty one near the steps. No one sat there from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.
I ended up sitting on the cushioned bench against the wall near the bar, and we were crammed between a couple on my left and a group on my right. At first, we weren’t thrilled, but we tried to make the best of it.
We ordered two empanadas—one chicken and one steak and both were amazing well prepared, fresh, and flavorful. For entrées, we got the pulpo a la parrilla and bandeja paisa. Both dishes were a chef’s kiss. We loved every bite. We also ordered old fashioneds with Maker’s, and while they were well mixed, the portion was smaller than what we’re used to.
As we were eating, the group next to us kept getting louder and louder. The music was already loud, but I could barely hear it over them. What made it worse was one person in the group using profanity nonstop. I’m not naïve people curse but hearing profanity and slurs every minute for over an hour was just too much. Have some decorum, especially in a nice restaurant with people dining around you.
We started to get annoyed and couldn’t even finish our food. I spoke to our waiter, explained my frustration, and told him we were ready to leave. Our waiter was attentive the entire time, and he handled the situation as kindly as he could. We didn’t even take our food to go. I asked to speak to a manager, but apparently there wasn’t one present that evening. I was told a manager would be in the next day. The waiter was nice enough to take the drinks off the bill for the inconvenience.
As we were leaving, they lowered the music maybe hoping the group would quiet down but by then we were already on our way out.
Hopefully if we visit again, we’ll have better seating and more respectful neighbors.

Five stars without question. Puerta de Alma in Williamsburg is pure flavor, warmth, and corazón. The Pistachio Coquito Espresso Martini that Bella makes is out of this world. The costillas cortas slow braised boneless short ribs with that sweet and spicy glaze are incredible, and the esquites roasted corn and mashed potatoes are the perfect sides. Carlos is an excellent manager and George, the co-owner, brings so much genuine hospitality. One of the best spots in Williamsburg.

Incredible. The staff’s service was smooth like jazz, and they kindly improvised anything to make our night. I had no blues over the food, as every dish we tried was fantastic. And lastly, (and objectively) the most important performance of the night, the jazz band themselves, who were incredible, truly playing for the love of it. One member came around with a wine glass to cheers to our table for just being there to hear them play, and I can’t wait to cheers to him again—as often as I can—as it was a pleasure to be there. Oh, and fantastic espresso martini, too😉

I was a bit early for my daycare pickup and noticed their happy hour sign. They've been working on this place for a while so I was excited to see what it looked like. They open at 4:00 and I walked in at 4:01, the bartender was super sweet and gave me a little tour of the place. It's gorgeous! The seating, the fixtures everything was chosen with care and charm.
I ordered a margarita and guacamole at the bar. Both were beyond tasty! Try as I might, i couldn't finish the guacamole. Its really decent portion for the price. It was painful to leave it on the table cuz it was so good. They have a space for a band and dancing and I'm very much looking forward to coming back for date night.

This was my first time going with my husband and I must truly say it was an amazing experience from the food to service to drinks. Carlos was our server and what I truly loved about him was his suggestion on a certain type of tequila that would go best with a margarita which was a great one after trying it. I like a server who suggests, but all in all Carlos was very accommodating and made sure we had a good night. The atmosphere was more of an intimate ambiance with good salsa music. The food was AMAZING as well as the drinks. This place is a must try, you will not be disappointed.

Puertas del Alma isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience that touches your soul. From the moment you walk in, you feel wrapped in warmth, beauty, and love. The ambiance glows softly, the music sets the mood, and the energy feels alive yet intimate.
Every dish tastes like it was made with care and passion. The flavors are rich, comforting, and full of soul — it’s the kind of food that stays with you long after the last bite. The staff treats you like family, and every detail, from the decor to the cocktails, feels intentional and full of heart.
It’s rare to find a place that feels this genuine — where the food, the people, and the atmosphere all connect so perfectly. Puertas del Alma truly lives up to its name — it’s a doorway to the soul. I left feeling full, loved, and already dreaming of coming back.
