Edit: I’ve attached pictures, my gf ended up picking this up (won’t be going back until the it’s not a Reuben comes back) again, and it’s literally the side of an iPhone 12 mini, with maybe a 1/3 of a cup worth of chicken salad in side which is actually insane

Wow! Just a joy coming in paired with the phenomenal fresh ingredient sandwiches. My partner and I were greeted with lots of love by a stylish young man. We ordered the a fried egg and kale sandwich with the chicken salad sandwich both served on brioche bun. And when my partner realized he made a mistake not adding some Lovely add ons (after two bites 😅) they still re made the sandwich. No full charge just the add ons. Love the atmosphere and the food, thee entire staff was a delight.

Used to come to R&D semi-regularly as it’s around the corner from me to get the meatball sandwich and kale salad. I don’t like the usual dressing that comes on the sandwich, so at first I asked for them to leave it off, which they did. On one visit, one of their employees suggested I substitute the regular dressing for the one on the bahn mi and it was great. This became my go-to. Then, one day an employee sternly told me that they do not accommodate substitutions. Not sure if/when they changed their policy, but she made it seem like I was inconveniencing her by even asking. I didn’t realize this walk up counter was considered fine dining.
Won’t be going here anymore. These folks seem to have gotten some big heads once they got that backyard, shifted attention to operating a knick knack store and decided they’re the best thing on Vanderbilt. Spoiler: they’re not. Not even close. There are better coffee, sandwich, dessert and breakfast options on Vanderbilt. So I guess come here if you want overpriced food, underwhelming service and a dose of hipster attitude.
Update: note the owners response does not address the substitution policy. completely whack.

Really solid spot with fresh baked goods and sandwiches. Partner and I came in on a Sunday morning and ordered their fried egg sandwich on Portuguese bread and their mortadella sandwich. Both were absolutely fantastic and would definitely come here again if we are in the neighborhood. Ingredients were super fresh, and love that they change up their menu.

Overpriced sandwiches for the portions served. Staff was not welcoming and refused to turn on the outdoor heaters.
$6 for a baguette is a crime. Even high end stores sell $5 at most. Unless it's the best baguette in NY don't be charging these prices.
update: the owners reply is so silly. you are not conveniencing your customers and neighborhood with inflated prices. those baguettes are not good as they're sourdough. Better off going to whole foods for Balthazar or tom cat.
