I have been a fan and patron of Calle Ocho since it was on Columbus Avenue. The food remains delicious and the staff is stellar! I love everything on the menu but my faves are the arepa and shrimp appetizers along with the ropa vieja and salmon entrees. The drinks are fantastic too! This is my go to restaurant anytime I want a relaxing night out with delicious food. Also they have a great happy hour and live music a couple of nights a week.
We had been to Calle Ocho on a Saturday night when it was very busy and noisy where we sat indoors. On our second visit we were outdoors and the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, perhaps because we ate earlier and it was Sunday. The food is uniformly good. The paella, however, could use some improvement: the seafood was mostly clams and what chicken there was was in such small pieces that one could hardly taste it. The costillas were tender and well-spiced and everyone enjoyed...
