Ordered tonkatsu ramen, and got pork katsu instead. Which the person who I ordered from repeated ramen back to me. Yet ended up with the wrong dish. which was more expensive than the ramen. It was $20 for pork katsu and rice and a small side salad. Which also had paper in the food. I took a few bites of the katsu and I was chewing on paper. Will not be coming back. I took pictures with the order number but can’t post it in this review. Imagine chewed up pieces of paper next to the order number and the katsu. Absolutely a waste of $20

I had a really great experience at Sapporo Ichiban. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. The portion sizes were generous. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that makes it perfect for a casual meal. I’ll definitely be coming back and would recommend it to anyone looking for good Japanese food in the neighborhood.

Okay. I'll admit it: I'm not objective when it comes to Sapporo Ichiban.
Frankie, the owner, has run a sushi restaurant in Williamsburg/Greenpoint for just about 30 years. He's still there making sushi many nights, though thankfully he's brought on and mentored some talented staff.
I've been going there for almost 20 years, and had many important moments in my life there.
Here's the thing: This is all because it's a FANTASTIC place.
It's a sushi place. They make everything pretty well... Ramen, Tempura.... But it's a SUSHI place, and the sushi is AMAZING.
Is there better sushi in NYC?. Yes, of course.
Is there better sushi reliably in NYC within several miles for anything approaching normal-people prices? Not even close.
Wednesday is fish day.... So maybe don't go Tuesday and order giant chunks of tuna, but everything else is amazing.
Presentation is always efficient but good. They're fast unless they're slammed. The free sake is always a bonus.
I like the special sashimi, the blackened tuna appetizer, the eternal love roll and the ume shiso roll. They're famous for the Hamachi kama.
Please just do us all a favor and give Franky all your money? I effing dare anyone to really go toe to toe on quality, speed, price, reliability and presentation... For SUSHI. It's a SUSHI PLACE.

There's something really cozy about this place. It has turned into one of my favourite neighbourhood spots when I just need a guaranteed good meal after a long day. I have been getting the chicken katsu bento box as of late and it's just an enormous amount of food that is great to share between two -- the shumai and the chicken are great, the tempura vegetables are a little less appealing as they end up becoming a bit soggy. However, the miso soup and the long list of sushi rolls easily makes up for that. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Ate here with my boys and the amount they give is actually very pre-inflation amount. Most stores upcharge and reduce the amount but this store you really get the bang of your buck where I eat good Sushi and actually full afterwards. The salmon fried rice and Manhattan roll is the best.

Very delicious and high quality sushi. Portion is such a good deal compare to other restaurants nearby. I've been eating sushi since a child and the quality, quantity is one of the best in Brooklyn. I can tell the owner cares a lot about the restaurant.

I visited that place many times before and I was always happy until last time. I got food poisoning. Also service is not the nicest.
I've visited this restaurant for over 10 years. It always serves food of best quality and reasonable prices. I never get enough with its seafood souple noodle, which is not found any elsewhere.
Parking: parking on street is always available within 2 blocks.
