The entire staff at Savelli was very friendly and our server, Paolo, took excellent care of us! The crispy calamari and big, juicy Nonna-styled meatballs were fantastic appetizers, and they offer Super Tuscans by the glass! Their long 29-inch pizza was so light and airy (with the right amount of chew) that our entire table devoured it all. And definitely don't skip their tiramisu. It's like a coffee-rich cloud, and you can tell that it's made in-house.

I read the best Italian is in Brooklyn... absolutely correct. All was outstanding. Best of everything. We tried it all arancini (short rib version, orecchiette, veal. Nino said his tiramisu was the best. It was fantastic. Best we ever had in Italy and elsewhere. This place is a well kept secret... a hidden gem beautiful atrium, inside a nondescript restaurant front. Go and enjoy. Say hi to Nino. Nino we will be back next time we are in NYC. Thank you!
Our family normally eats at highly rated Italian restaurants in Brooklyn and Staten Island and were treated by my son who said to try Savelli as an anniversary gift. We did not know about this obscure restaurant tucked in on Smith St, or what we call the old neighborhood where our family came from.
