My family and I have come here a few times because it’s close and the food is decent enough, however we bought my mother in law twice this week and today when we were about to leave a tip, we noticed that they charge an automatic 18% gratuity and fail to mention the auto gratuity when they drop the check AND they also have tipping guidelines on the credit card receipt (18, 20 AND 22%!!) which makes you assume tip isn’t included. It’s a HORRIBLE business practice and seems incredibly racist given our neighborhood demographic. Will never go back and will tell everyone I know about their awful business practices.

Daniel was our server and he was so amazing. He was so accommodating to our larger group, made us a table so we could sit together. The food and drinks were amazing and came out so fast. Highly recommend 🙏🏼

I really enjoy this restaurant and have come here regularly without any issues. However, there’s a male bartender/server who seems to have a problem with large groups of Black patrons. A few weeks ago, I witnessed him call the police on a group that wasn’t causing any disturbance. The situation didn’t warrant that kind of response at all — and when the police arrived (many of whom were also Black), they looked visibly annoyed that they were even called.
It’s incredibly dangerous and irresponsible to involve law enforcement in situations that don’t require it, especially when dealing with Black communities. Considering Bed-Stuy is a predominantly Black neighborhood, I think it’s essential that staff receive proper training on how to engage with the local community respectfully.
The only reason I’m even writing this is because I want to continue supporting this restaurant. I’ve always had good experiences here — until this particular staff member, who seems to have left and recently returned. I hope this can be addressed so that everyone feels safe and welcome here.
